Unofficial scoring for the Dixie College Rebels double figures tonight. Let's take a look at the final scoring totals for North Idaho as the final score is 101 to 93. That makes a sweep for North Idaho, both men's and women's victories tonight and a couple of heartbreakers in fact almost duplicate as Dixie College was battling back all night on the women's side, although it was a much closer ball game than this one. North Idaho just hanging on in both cases. 86, 85 on the women's side and 101 to 93 on the men's side as Dixie College loses this one. Dixie now goes to 7 and 7 in league play and 15 and 11 on the year. Saturday night Dixie will be against Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. And the Rebels will have their work cut out for them there also as Dixie will be trying to come up with a victory against Rick's College. Let's take a look at the North Idaho scoring off the bench. Nathaniel Ingram did Not score, went 0 for 1 from the free throw line. Chris Brennan fouled out of the ball game with 7:28 left, hit a basket one for one from the freesrow line, a total of three. James Claussen played only in the first half, did not score, went over two from the free throw line. Dan Stordeo had two field goals for a total of four points on the night. As far as the leading scorers go, or as far as the starters go. Daryl Davis played mostly in the first half, was somewhat ineffective, hit a basket for a total of 2 points. Ayrton Dudjevic had another good night against Dixie, although not quite as spectacular as he did in St. George, finished with six field goals, a total of 12 points on the night. For Dudevich, for the big three, it was the two guys are leading scorers, you expect them to score a lot. Felix McGowan and Casey Ergens and the number three scorer, Donald Parrott had a career night. They had one of the best nights of his career. In fact, I think it's his best night at home this year. Nope. Yes it is. And a big night against Utah Valley also. Donald Parrott finished the night with 10 field goals, four of them three pointers, one for two from the free throw line, a total of 25 points. Felix McGowan had a huge second half, finished with 10 field goals, four of Them three pointers, five for six from the free throw line, a Total of 29 points. Casey Ergens, who had 27 points in St. George, had another big night tonight, finished with 12 field goals, two of them three pointers over one from the free throw line and a total of 26 points on the night tonight for Casey Ergins. Let's take this break. We'll be back and take a look at the Dixie College scoring. Final score 101.93 North Idaho with a victory. Back after this. That. It. Back at the back at the Christensen Gymnasium taking a look at the Dixie College scoring as the Dixie College Rebels worked so hard tonight. They worked so hard and just could not come up with a victory. Let's take a look at the final scoring totals for Dixie off the bench tonight. Clark Adams went 2 for 2 from the free throw line, a total of two points. Give Arnold off the bench at a basket for two points late in the ball game. Joe Mandashikhin did all of his scoring in the first half. He shot the ball well in the first half, didn't play all that much in the second half and nor did he shoot the ball all that well. But Joe had a good first half at three field goals, one of them a three pointer, finished with seven points on the night. Jan Brooks had a tremendous night off the bench as he had six field goals, a total of 12 points on the night for Jan Brooks. Chris Yard with three field goals, two for five from the free throw line, a total of eight points. Dave Lloyd played briefly only in the first half, did not score. As far as the starters go, some kids worked awfully hard tonight. Quincy Lewis with three field goals, he did all of his scoring in the first half, won a three pointer, a total of seven points on the night. Lester Turner finished with a total of four field goals, won a three pointer, only nine points on the night for Lester Turner. Renaud Gordon had three field goals, a total of six points. Brian Sitter who was held scoreless in the first half, went wild in the second half as he had four three pointers, three two pointers, two for two from the free throw line and finished with a total of 20 points all in the second half for Brian Sitter. And Cliff Reed just worked his heart out tonight. Cliff with seven field goals, six for eight from the free throw line finished with a total of 20 points, 101 to 93. The final score, North Idaho over Dixie. And coach Dave Rose who worked awfully hard tonight also coach, it was frustrating when they shoot so well. North Idaho shoots so well. They did shoot the ball well and you know that was something that you just. You never know what's going to happen. We took our film apart from last time when we played them at our place and thought that there were certain players we wanted to shoot the. And the thing was that they weren't shooting it until the end. You know, the critical times. They got the ball to the people that could score, and the little point guard really hurt us. There's been something for a string of time now where Dixie has worked awfully hard on defense and not been able to cash in on it somehow. The other team gets kind of a slop basket. Yeah, and I thought that, you know, our players really did play hard tonight. I thought that, you know, the kids that came in off the bench did a good job and. And I thought in the second half that there were times when, you know, the kids really, really got back to that belief where they, you know, we're going to pull this thing out. And, you know, we didn't get very many breaks, obviously, with the officials, and we didn't, you know, we had a lot of critical calls underneath the basket that, you know, I thought I was feeling really good there at a point because we were in the double bonus in fouls with about eight minutes left in the game. And I don't think we went to the free throw line in the last six or seven minutes before the end of the game. And I thought that we could get him in that situation, that we could get to the foul line and get things set up defensively. But they really played well. Cliff Reed got hammered a lot underneath tonight when he was going to the basket. Well, you know, when they're that big, you know, they have a front line that's so 6, 6, 6, 7, 6, 9, 6, 8, 6'11. They just keep bringing big guys in. That makes it awfully tough for Cliff. And I think that he did a good job in the second half especially. I think he forced some shots early in the first half. And in the second half, I thought we got the ball to him a couple times and got our guards moving and splitting him, and he got it back out and we got some good shots off it. But he still has a tendency to want to do a lot of things on his own. And in these types of games, it's really tough on him because he really has to work a lot harder because of his size. For your ball club. There really was. There was that spirit of confidence tonight. It didn't look like you were. You were going to come back at them almost anytime during the second half. Well, the one thing that really hurt us was when they went to that delay game of theirs and you know, we were really playing good defense and getting out and denying and they'd just go out a little bit further and go by a little bit further. And it's hard to deny the whole half court, you know, when they're going all the way backwards. And so they'd catch the ball and then our kids would jump off and I thought defensively did a pretty good job. And then they'd work the thing down to about 10 or 11 seconds and then the little point guard just would scoot in there and jump up and hit a three or scoot in there and jump up and hit a 2 or pass it off. And he killed us in critical times. We were making runs, you know, and close it to six or five or six and then he got it back up again. One of the things that looked like you were trying to wear them down tonight and they were wearing down well, you know, I think that, you know, when Raleigh goes into that spread game of his as early as he did, he knew his kids were tired and that was what we tried to do. I mean you got to take the advantage that you have and our advantage obviously isn't inside. And so we tried to get him up and down the floor a little bit and really the game plan worked pretty well for us. The thing that really, really hurt us was in the first half they had 16 offensive rebounds and probably 10 of them for put back baskets which has hurt us all year long, obviously because of our size. And, and then in the second half I think they had the same. I haven't seen the stats, but I know there's key times where we did a good job defensively in a half court and then they'd get the rebound and put it back in question. Now with the kids, they've had a good effort, they've worked awfully hard. They just couldn't overcome the hot shooting of the little point guard tonight. Is there still confidence with the team? They have to. This is a great effort by a team tonight. Even though they lose, this could still be a building block, couldn't it? Well, you don't ever know how your kids are going to respond, I hope. You know, I went in and talked to them and told them I thought that we played a much better game here than the two games we played last weekend, you know, and that's really all you can do now is just try and get better and try and play harder and keep your kids together. And you know, losing is tough on them. Losing is tough on a coach. It's tough on A town, a city, it's up on everybody and. And we got to break that and get back on the track. But really all you can do is just try and improve each time. And I think tonight we did give it your best effort and see what happens. I thought they did. I thought they did a good job. I thought Gibb really came in and played well off the bench and had a really good effort in the second half. And that's one of the things that have really been concern to me is that our second halfs have been kind of dead. We get a run or two and then we just die for a while. And we get a run or two and die for a while. I thought really, you know, for the 20 minutes in that second half, the kids really played well. Crucial times in the game, you know, it's just hard to. It's hard to put your finger on it. But we go into a half court trap with a couple minutes left and down 8 or whatever and we get them to take the shot we want them to take and then Ayrton gets the ball and puts it back in, you know, and then again we go down and score three. Then we come down, we're in that trap again, we trap them, they get free and then take a wild shot miss. You know, Airton gets to rebound. He got three in a row at crucial times at the end of that game, which really, you know, I mean, he's six, nine, one of the best rebounders in the league and we just didn't do the job on him. One of the things that happened in the first half, they scored 35 points in the first nine and a half minutes of the first half. And then you put the clamps on them, they go over three minutes without scoring another point. And that's where I really think that our guys who came in off the bench did a good job, you know, because he's playing his group and they're off on a run and we're running with them and staying with them. You know, it's a four or five point game and then my other guys came in and I think did a really good job defensively. Did a really good job. It's kind of funny, you know, we talked about it before, but I've got some real good defensive players, but they're not my best offensive players and my best offensive players aren't my best defensive players. And so you try to mix them in there. And I thought that we got a good mix to. It just wasn't enough. Player of the game. I'm not sure who to go to. There are a lot of great efforts. Cliff Reed had a great effort. Brian Sitter in the second half. Gibb Arnold off the bench. Jan Brooks had a good night tonight. He came in and gave you some good minutes also. Yeah, it's probably hard to pick one tonight. I, you know, I just, I really think that you could give it to just about any of those kids. I thought Cliff finally, you know, for about a month and a half we haven't seen that guy. If the people want to watch him on this delay thing on Sunday night when they're going to send this cable broadcast back to St. George, you'll see Cliff, the way he used to play before he was hurt, he really, in the second half, went after it and took control. And that was good to see and I'm happy for that. And Larry, why don't you go ahead and you guys can pick the player of the game. Cliff sounds good to me. I felt like he was the candidate, as hard as he was working all night, that he had to be one of the key candidates. Although there were a lot of good ones. Tonight, Cliff Reed will be our player of the game. Now, Rick's college, they're always tough up there. Yeah. And you know, Rick's causes us a lot of problems again, because of their size. You know, we're going to have little guys guarding big guys, and the difference is their big guys shoot the ball outside. They're not as much of an inside oriented team as North Idaho is, and hopefully we'll be able to combat that. You know, it's kind of difficult to think that we can go in there after these kids played as hard as they did, and go in there and run up and down with them and shoot with them, you know, because they love to do that. But we're really kind of handicapped. You know, we're handcuffed. That's the way we have to play. And, you know, so it'll probably be a shootout. It was last time in St. George. You ended up on the top side of that one. Yeah. And hopefully our kids will get a rest here tonight and tomorrow. And then we'll get out there tomorrow, I mean, on Saturday and get a good effort from them. Coach Dave Rose, congratulations on the effort tonight. Tremendous effort by the kids and also by you and Jason. You were working hard over there too. We'll try it again Saturday. All right. I never thought that I'd be congratulated for getting beat by eight points, but I do think that our players are on the right track now and we can finish this thing out and, you know, do some good things and that's, you know, obviously where we got to go and then get out recruit and get another one behind us. Coach Dave Rose tonight. Heartbreaking in a way. The kids really put forth quite an effort though, and that has to be encouraging as Dixie drops one to North Idaho. Actually, they dropped two to North Idaho. Heartbreaker for the ladies too, but it was a great, great effort by a lot of kids. Cliff Reed will be our Katie Xu player of the game as he shared the high point honors with Brian Sitter. 20 points each, but as a little point guard Donald Parrott, that was probably the difference in the game tonight. Felix McGowan in the second half and Casey Ergins, they shot the ball well. The top three scorers for North Idaho proved it again tonight as McGowan had 29, Ergin's 26 and Parrott 25. Parrott just unbelievable tonight as North Idaho comes up with a victory. Larry Jewell, thanking you for being with us, reminding you that Saturday we'll be on the Air 7:15 Broadcast Time with Dixie vs. Ricks College Live from Rexburg, Idaho. That'll be followed with the Utah Jazz versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. And then on Sunday 93, it'll be BYU versus Utah. And so be listening for us. Let me give you a little background from here. We just take off and it's an all night drive from here to Rexburg, Idaho and let the kids rest in the bus and they'll get a chance to practice tomorrow at Ricks College, maybe get a little more rest. And then Saturday night it'll be Dixie versus Ricks College. So it's off on the road again from beautiful Coeur d' Alene to somewhat colder Rexburg, Idaho. Larry Jewell, thanking you for being with us, our sponsors for their support of Dixie College basketball. Indeed, we do appreciate them and we do appreciate you for listening.
