For the second consecutive day, the furious comeback by Dixie College fell short. Only this time it meant that the Rebels picked up their second loss in the National Junior College Athletic Association Baseball World Series. The Rebels, in their first ever World Series competition In Grand Junction, Colorado fell behind 7 to 1 to Wabash Valley before a four run seventh inning, keyed by a two run homer by Mark Roberts and a two run double by Reed Sechrest started the comeback. Dixie added a solo home run by Mark Twain Colbert before Wabash Valley scored two unearned runs in the top of the 9th inning. Chad Erickson led off the bottom of the 9th with a solo home run, but the two unearned runs in the Top of the 9th proved to be the difference as Wabash Valley downed Dixie by a score of 9 to 7. For the Dixie Rebels, it ended a year in which they won their first ever district or area championship, Northwest Area Championship, and also made the first trip ever to the National Junior College of World Series in Grand Junction. Final score again for Tuesday afternoon, Dixie College dropping one to Wabash Valley. Wabash Valley nine, Dixie College seven Larry Jewell reporting.
