Dixie vs Pine View High School Football Fall of 1991
Transcript
In the. In the stadium prior to this game? Well, I think so. A lot of anticipation here, you know, and I, as I've talked with people over the week and talked about Dixie and Pine View people, I think the last couple of years that Dixie's clearly had an edge as far as talent and momentum going into this game, and it's been tough for the Panthers to come in and even try to hang on with the likes of a Tyler Wilkinson and Mike Smith and several Tom Brown and some of these athletes that they face. But I think this weekend and this year, Larry, it's pretty even, I think, going in. Of course, Dixie has a little momentum. We're playing at Hanson Stadium, but I think they're pretty evenly matched teams. Of course, as was mentioned in the interviews, Greg and Eric Sampson, they can really pop the big one at any time. And we've seen that happen throughout the, you know, the first part of the schedule. And I think Dixie has those same kind of kids. It's just going to be an exciting game. I think everybody's kind of anticipating that first series to see just who's going to control the line of scrimmage and what's going to happen out there. It's a risk of sounding somewhat saccharine. There is such a thing as a Dixie spirit, and you've been involved with that. But when the school's divided, that spirit didn't necessarily get divided, it got multiplied. And now there's both Pine View and Dixie spirit. Well, that's right. And our kids have really come a long ways that way, Larry. You know, when we went over to Pine View, from the very beginning, it's one thing to establish student bodies and to elect class officers and get classroom set up and assign teachers, but it's another thing to develop that tradition. And I really do feel like. And there's an air about our school this year at Pine View, where we're starting to establish that we have several alumni coming back now we're in our ninth year, and there's just a different feeling over there than there has been in the past, I think, because of the years going on. And then, of course, because of the situations of win and loss. And really, all in all, at Pine View, we've held our own and done a very good job with it. So we're starting to feel that same kind of spirit, that same kind of tradition, the same continuity and teaching and coaching staffs, and we really feel good about what's happening at Pineview this year. Let's set the stadium now and See what's taking place. There's a good crowd and it's still growing. There are enough seats for those who are still headed here to either root for Dixie or Pine View or just split their allegiances. You can do any and all. Back deep to receive for Dixie. Who will be defending the south goal will be Justin Esplin on the near side and on the far side will be number 10, Kip Fowler. Kip, the son of a former running back at the University of Utah, Bill Fowler, who is dean of students at Dixie College and son of a former Dixie College and Southern Utah University basketball player, Greg Sampson, will be putting the toe or the instep to the football. The kick will find you. Panthers will be defending the north goal here at Hansa Stadium. One of the aspects that may be coming to play tonight, there are college whip uprights in this one. The kick coming down to Justin Eslin takes it on his own 12 yard line. Jigs to the left side towards the outside. Up across the 20, down near the 30 yard line. Finally brought down near the 31 yard line by Pineview. And it looks like Josh Anderson is in there. Josh Anderson, what a hitter. You know, as coach mentioned, he's really come on the last three weeks and I'll tell you, any receiver that's going to run across the middle of that defense tonight is going to get hit and they're going to know of Josh's presence. He's. He's done a great job in the middle for the Panthers this year. First down and 10 at the Dixie 31 yard line. I formation on the running backs. Big ryan Anderson, all 205 pounds of him at the fullback position, Justin Espin at the tailback and score. The receivers on each side. Handoff goes to Asplin, the tailback comes across the right tackle and gets about five yards on the play. Down near the 36 yard line there on the tackle looks to be for pine view, number 70, Travis segner. Yeah, Larry, one thing, I think it's pretty evident that both teams have good skilled kids this year and there's, you know, a load of them, I think with the key here is going to be who controls that line of scrimmage down in the trenches and, and whether it's the blue and white or the maroon and black, just about five yards for the first down. Quick pass, maybe pass to the outside from Hickman who's back into that starting position. Overshoots his intended receiver. Greg Sampson is out there. The intended receiver is Micah Deckard. Micah Decker, the intended receiver and you may see a lot of him tonight. And that's right. And he's a great receiver. I've heard really good things about his jumping ability, his quickness. Although I think the Flyers are going to see a little different look. You got Greg and Eric Sampson on the corners, and with their athletic ability, I think they're going to see better, better defensive backs than they've seen so far this year. Disadvantage for the Sampsons is height and Deckard is tall. Fumble on the play from the snap. No. Coming up with it is Hickman throwing over the middle and almost through the interception. Instead through behind the defender and tending it out there for Kip Fowler. But right there for Dick and for Pine view was number 89, Cam Bundy. And if he was online with the receiver, he would have hit Bundy instead. That's right. And Cam's been really good for the Panthers so far. He's another person about the size of the Samsons, but he's all hard and does a great job of hitting another person. That put pressure there, Joe Gibson, who has been a great junior linebacker for the Panthers this year. Mike Grow to do the kicking. It's a punting situation. 4th and 5 at the 36. Grove with the left foot high end over end kick. Fair catch called for by Eric Sampson. Fumbles the football scramble on the play. And it looks like Pine View did recover. There are enough shirts around there. Pine View recovering Joe Langston, the man who recovered for Pine View. So fumble on the kick, but Langston was there. Those are the kind of things we're going to see early. You don't see Eric do that very often, but I'm sure he's nervous out there and anticipating this big game. 10:54 left in the first quarter of play and no score yet. First time Pineview has the football recovered by Langston. First down and 10, put it at the 41 yard line. Just across the 41. Back to pass. Greg Sampson going deep over the middle. Just leads his receiver a little too much. That's number 11 out there. I think that's Richardson, isn't it? That's Ryan. Ryan Forbes. Correction. Forbes at number 11. Normally he's been wearing a little different number if I recall, but nope, I just don't have him listed here. Ryan forbes. He has one touchdown reception this year. So on a first and 10 from the 41, make it now second and 10 from the 41. And Greg Sampson, the quarterback, hands off the brother eric across the 43 down near the 44 yard line. They're on the tackle. Mike Griffin. Grow and grow, who is a big one for Dixie, is in the middle of a lot of things. That's right. He's a. He's a fine athlete. I know he's done very well for the Flyers over the last five weeks. Back to pass Greg Sampson. Quick over the middle. No, it's blocked down by Dixie. So it incomplete. A pass pressure on the quarterback by Mike Grohl. Once again, Pine View put pressure on Hickman. Sampson's getting the pressure too. Well, I think this is what we're looking at. We had check, check on both sides of the ball for each team and they're going to fill each other out here. I think this first quarter, Larry, anticipating, you know, control outline of scrimmage and this is kind of what I expected to see. Beginning cutting situation once again. Another one of the Samsungs. Yes. This time Eric doing the booting. Back deep is Justin Esplin at his own 16 yard line. Gets to the 21, to the 25. Turns up field at the 26. Finally pushed out of bounds near the 33 yard line as he cut to the left side. Good run back from the Dixie 16 to the Dixie. Let's see where they're finally going to place. That looks like just across the 33, not quite to the 34 yard line. So it'll be first down and 10 for the Flyers at their own 33 yard line. Esplin is explosive. Quarterback Brian Hickman leading people out of the pack. High formation. Once again for Dixie. First down and 10 from just across their own 33. Handoff goes to the tailback. Esplin trying to get through. Nope, the hole is blocked up and there is Dixie. Cam Bundy in there, but he was the third man to get there. There were two others ahead of him. Well, I tell you, Larry, the Pineview Panthers have shown a lot of quickness so far this year. They, you know, in that particular series at least looked like there was a big hole off tackle to the right side and we close it up in a hurry and. And that's really been the strength of the Panther defense is their quickness. Second down, about nine and a half yards to go for the Flyers this time for both receivers on the right side. Dixie versus Find you no score. We're in the first quarter of play. Back to pass. Hickman. Quick down and out pass. Has a complete demica. Deckard. Deckard, the intended receiver. And he got the intended. That's right. And here's a play I know with coach Jerry Dyer running the offense for The Flyers, that's one of those things. They run to Deckard, quick out, quick out, quick out. And then they'll turn him up the field. So I hope the Panthers are ready for that because they'll set him up and then hit the big one. Pay dirt, maybe second or third quarter. So we've got to be aware of that. From second down and last long night, you have third down and a short eight yards and the officials want timeout for just a moment. Third down and a short eight yards coming up for Dixie just across the 35 yard line. Flag on the play. Question of how long Dixie has been out there and I think they may have been confused by the officials. I'm not really sure what's happening right there and why they, why they delayed the game. Apparently one of the Panthers now is lined off sides and of course in high school football with encroachment, all they have to do is break that imaginary line there. That's the line of scrimmage on either side of the football and it's an automatic encroachment. Dead ball foul. Fourth down and a short three yards now and put it just to the Pine View side of the Dixie 40 yard line. You're listening to Panther football on Komy in St. George, Utah. Eye formation on the running back, Brian Hickman, the quarterback, Anderson the fullback, Espin the tailback for Dixie. No score yet. We're in the first quarter. In motion comes Dixie right to left handoff goes to Esklin, cuts to the outside, to the left side, has the first down, then some across midfield, dances at the 45 down near the 41 yard line. And there on the tackle for Pine view is number 54, Ryan Topalion. And here he was, the man who saved it. Well, that's right. Esplan really showed us something there. Larry was it was designed to go off tackle and he popped to the outside in a hurry and turned that into a big gainer. As you mentioned before, the Esplin's very explosive. First down and 10. Put it on the Dixie on the Pine View side of the field now. Dixie pushing downhill I formation again. Both receivers to the left side for the Flyers. Pitch goes to the tailback as Justin Eslin trying to turn up field. Now he cuts to the outside again. It's closed off in the middle. Eastland has some good yardage, close to a first out. Just kept squirming and squirming and has at least 9 yards and maybe the full 10 on that one. They're doing a great job it looks like Coach Odette has noticed a weakness on the outside. I know on that particular plate, Greg Sampson came up to contain and slipped on the turf. And Esklin just exploded around the outside, around him. Little head fake to the inside and left behind you there. That's right. That could have, could have caused this slip. There's no doubt about that because he did look very impressive. The Esplund kid is really solid. I've been impressed thus far with his running ability. Inches short of a first down. Make it second down, less than a yard to go, and put it just short of the 31 yard line of pine View just underway. First quarter of play, no score, Pineview and Dixie. But Dixie with their first big threat for either side. And the Flyers starting to make the move. They like that little down and out pattern to try to set up the pass for something deeper. Well, and that's the key to it, of course. By doing that, you force the corners, play a little soft, have your strong safety back off, and that kind of opens up the corners for you. And, you know, very good scheme right now with Coach Odette and the Dixie Flyers. Two receivers both to the short side of the field, the right side of the field. We're pushing to the north right now. Dixie, that is fine. View trying to defend their own turf. In motion comes Deckard, right to left back handoff goes to Justin Espin across the middle of that line and then veers to the left, Gets the first down and then some change on top of that. He's done a great job. And we need to give some credit to Anderson, too, leading him through. I'll tell you, the Anderson's a big, strong, physical power guy, and I'm kind of surprised he hasn't touched the ball so far tonight. But seeing how he blocks and opens up for us, when I can see why Coach Odette stays with his eyeback most of the time. Just about a 3 yard game put it just inside the pine view 28 yard line. So Dixie making a move. Both receivers out to the right side. Kip Fowler and Micah Deckard both stacked at the right side. This time it's to the wider side of the field. Eckert in motion, right to left again, trying to shake up the defensive backfield. Pitch goes to the tailback. That's Esklin. Turns up field. Esplin has near the first down. Looked like he was going to get it. Got tripped up and saved from that first down by Pineview. There on the tackle is Greg Sampson once again and Ryan Johnson the Man back from the appendectomy. Boy, I tell you, Ryan Anderson, we just gave credit to him. He just leveled Joel Gibson on that outside. Joel came up and Riddick forced the play real well and Ryan just put him right on his backside and freed Esselin up down the sideline. Give credit to Ryan Anderson on that one. Second down, about a yard and a half to go. Put it just to the Dixie side of the 19 yard line. You need to get just to the pine view side of the 18 yard line to get the first down. So not quite 2 yards and too short to be 2 yards, too long to be one eye formation. Once again, handoff goes again. No, fake the handoff. Hickman throwing to the right side to the flat, has his man complete inside the 10 yard line. Touchdown for Dixie. Ryan Anderson from that fullback position went to the flat and it's six nothing. Dixie. That was a great play, great design, Larry. Of course, like we said, they've been coming at him so much with that power, so they run a play, action pass. Ryan Anderson goes out in the flat, did a great job of turning north and south and getting the touchdown. Really deserves the credit there too because he had a lot to do with that drive. But very impressive drive the Dixie Flyers just put together. It's going to be tough for us to rebound now. We've got to come back and strike ourselves left footed. Mike Grohl about to put the toe to it. High snap. The kick is up. Is it good in the narrow goal post? Yes, it is. Make it seven nothing Dixie with 7:03 left in the first quarter of play. You know, Superior has built a solid reputation with years of experience restoring autos and trucks. Their cheap, easy line equipment can straighten that twisted metal like new, sometimes even better than when you've had an accident. Don't choose your auto body technician by accident. No, have the experts at Superior Auto Body repair your vehicle. 600 North Industrial Road here in St. George. Seven nothing Dixie out in front of Pine View. Seven nothing. And Mike Grove to do the kicking. Coming down to Yale Morby. He'll take it at own nine yard line. Morby right up the field across the 15, across the 20, at the 35 down near the 35 yard line. So a big run back by Yale Morby and Yale is going to be a good one for Ty View. Oh, yeah, he's been the workhorse on our JV team, Larry, in. In a lot of situations he's a good enough athlete where he'd be getting a lot of playing time, but he's playing behind a couple pretty good running backs out there and pretty good athletes. I think it's important that Coach Brockman opens up here a little bit now and puts some pressure on the flyers and spreads them across the field. First down and 10 inches short of the 35 yard line. Handoff. Eric Sampson across the 40 down near the 43 yard line. And Eric a quick, quick hitter on that right side. He can scoop. Yeah, he does a very good job and especially when the Panthers run a little trap play inside, he hits the hole really quick. I wouldn't be surprised to see that soon from coming from Coach Brockman. Second down, two yards to go. Hand off again to Eric Sampson trying to grab at the football as Dixie Sampson hangs onto it. The man who was doing the grabbing was Josh Suan. And Josh almost had the football. He did. And you know, a lot of times you tell your defensive people to do that, pull that ball loose, come up with a big play and nothing could hurt the Panthers worse now than a turnover. A little bit of the no huddle offense. Sandoff good. Goes to Eric Sampson stacked up from the 49 yard line right at midfield, gets a yard and Mike Grove for his efforts. Well, it went to the. Well maybe one too many times. They ran that play three times in a row, right to Eric, but picked up the first down and now we've got great field position. First down, our second down now and about nine yards to go. Hand off to Eric Sampson this time to the left side. Headlong into Dixie, gets to midfield Miss maybe a half yard more and two Dixie ballplayers came together. It looked like Pat Dunleavy was one. Correction. Tyler Hunt I think was the man that got him. So it's a big hit on Eric Sampson. The Flyers have also shown some good team quickness out there tonight, Larry. They're down a long eight yards to go. Put it on the Dixie side of the field for the first time for the Panthers. Back to pass. Greg Sampson scrambling under pressure. Throws intended deep out there for Pine View, Jeremy Bostwick. Bostwick was just over a shot, but Greg Sampson was scrambling. He had a lot of pressure on him, but you know, really that's when Greg over the past few games has really been effective. Larry. He kind of things break down, he's able to scramble. The kids have been coached to come back to the ball when they need to and it's been a very fortunate thing. We've had some big plays from that very kind of a thing. Things are scrambling right now. Find you back into that putting situation. Snap is dropped by Eric Sampson, gets the boot away. Gets it away from Justin Esplin and has it die at the 21 yard line, clear across field. So. So position for Dixie. Not bad, not great, not too bad. 40 yard punt and I'm not so sure that's not the thing to do with Eslin back there is kick away from him, try to get the good roll. I know in the past that's what a lot of teams have done with Eric Sampson being on the opposite end of it. They haven't wanted to kick to him, so they've done that very same thing. And you know, it was really pretty. An effective punt there for the Panthers. Seven nothing. Dixie with a late first down and 10 for the Flyers put it at their own 21 yard line. And Pine View stung once. They're trying to keep Dixie at bay and try to give themselves good field position again. Brian Hickman pitches to tail back Justin Estelle and Eslin turning up field cuts inside the block. Gets the big block and gets the first down. Then some across the 35 down near the 37 yard line. Dancing head faking. Justin Esslin having a great night. He's doing great again. Credit to the Anderson kid that really came up and freed him. But we've got to put more pressure on those outside corners, Larry, to be effective tonight or the Esslin kids going to do that all night to us. Just short of the Dixie 37 yard line. How explosive is that when he got the first score of the year for Dixie A big punt return that helped get them off and going against Carbon this year. High formation once again on the Pliers. Pitch goes to Esplund. Esplin to the right flag on the play. Cuts inside Espin close to a first down. Still on his feet. And then is rolled down by Pineview's defense. Led on the way by Pineview by Ryan Johnson again. But there's a flag on this side of the field, Jim. Looks like a legal procedure would be my. My call by the Flyers. But let's kind of. Let's say what happens here. Kind of a tentative hint of a wave in the direction of Dixie. Hold, hold, Call. Holding. Coming up against the Flyers end. So do you talk to Pine View, Greg Sanchez? Sure, that's my guess. The one thing on that leg course that's from the point of infraction. So that, you know, could be plus or minus depending on which side of the ball you're on. But it is, it is 10 yards from the point of infraction. Point of infraction is 3 yards up from the guard from the line of scrimmage. So the hole took place about the 38, almost 39 yard line. So it'll be marched back. It'll be first down and very long yardage. Let's see where they place it. The closer to the 27 yard line. That's almost a full 10 yards. The flag was thrown about three yards up field. So it'll be first down and about 20 yards to go. A short 20. If they is such an animal. This is a good situation for the Panthers. I think in this week we're forcing Hickman to a throwing situation test. His arm pitch goes to Justin Eslin instead of the throw. They're going to turn outside now. Eslin turns upside and is chased down from behind by Tapalian to Tallion. Got him around the hips and Eslin still able to score him away for a couple of yards. I thought he was down and you're right, he was able to get a couple. But like I said, I think this is forcing Dixie now to throw the ball a little bit and can maybe give us a break as far as defense is concerned. Hopefully get the interception, turn over, put a little pressure on Hickman as Coach Brockman said he wanted to do tonight. Second down, about 15 yards to go. Almost five yards gained on that one. 405 left in the first quarter. Seven nothing. Flyers over the Panthers. This is the rivalry in Washington County. No offense, Eric and but both of these teams are a little bigger. Back to pass. No the handoff on the end around here comes to Micah Decker from the right side to the left side. Decker trying to get away from Greg Sampson. Ah, there's Greg Sampson along with Russ Nielsen. Gain of maybe a yard at the most, maybe two. And it looks like they'll give him two yards gain, but it's still going to be long yarding. Yeah, it looked like it was wide open, Larry, but as you mentioned, Sampson forced him outside and the Decker kid had to run a long ways to get one yard. Actually make it third down, about 13 yards, 12 and a half yards to go, Dixie. Third and long yardage split. Those running backs hint at the pass. Two receivers to the wide side of the field to the right. Brian Hickman, the junior who sat out most of last night's in last week's game because of a suspension. Hickman back, throwing deep. There's Deckard. Peter tangled, no flag on the play. Eric Sampson and Micah Deckard got those big number nines on each side. Well, maybe number seven for Eric. I'll tangle. I was sure glad to see that on the officials part. You know, both of them were really running to the ball and of course, you know, as the rule states, once the ball's in the air, it's. It's as much the defenders as it is the offensive man. And basically they did get tangled up and it was a no call by the official and I was glad to see him do that, not penalize either team. Hide the shoelaces, guys, and let's try it again. 7 Nothing, Dixie. It's a punting situation. Mike grow to do the punishment. Back deep to receive. Looks to be Eric Sampson. So Mike Grove, the big left footed lineman. Grove boots it away and sometimes with that left foot, it's a little tougher to punt. Fair catch called for by Eric Sampson. Looks like they may give him a yard more than he actually deserved there. It looks like the official is going to market at about the 32 yard line. So good punt by Grove. He did. He actually fielded the ball about the 30 and then took a second step forward. But this really gives the Panthers pretty good field position, I think. Larry, again, open up a little bit, force the Dixie defenders to adjust, kind of keep them on their heels. I know when we played Springville two weeks ago, that's when we really became effective, is when we opened up, put three receivers to one side, ran a lot of motion and and just tried to mix the defensive scheme up. Staggered the running backs this time and put two receivers to the left side. That's still me shake things up a little bit. Greg Sampson, maybe not quite as strong an arm as Brian Hickman, but he runs the ball well. Handoff to Eric Sampson has the first down across the 40 yard line. Down near the 46 yard line, Sampson swerved to the left and then just turned up field when he saw the hole. There's a little trap play to the left side and opened up very well. The kids did a good job. I. I think thus far as I look at the line of scrimmage and who really has control, there's not any kind of a dominance. Although on that particular play our trap block worked very well to spring Eric Sampson. First down and 10 at the Pineview 46 yard line. Pine View headed to the south now, just where they want to be headed. Slot man left, two receivers to the left. Handoff goes to Eric Sampson bullying his way forward as much as little Eric. And Bull put it down near the 49 yard line. Gain of 3 yards on the play by Eric. I'm kind of surprised at this stage Ridge that we haven't opened up throwing the ball a little more. Like I said, some twin receivers and so forth to one side or the other, but we have been effective on this series. Running the ball, getting four or five yards a pop. Jeremy Bostwick out wide to the left side. Only one receiver out this time. A double tight end situation. And the slot man is to the right. That's Russ Nielsen. One setback back to pass. Greg Sampson on the run. No, he's going to keep it. And big trapped from behind by Mike Groh. From in front came Shane Callahan and Groh caught up with him from behind. Quick for Gro. They saw that coming. That's a, that's a new play that I haven't seen Coach Brockman run yet. He just put in this week. Once again, I think that what we've got to do is throw the ball a little bit on those running situations to back the Flyers off. Now we've got a third and 10 and of course the Flyers are anticipating the pass and, and I'm sure that's what we're going to be doing on this play. They take that play wadded up and throw it to the side. That one didn't work. Let's try this one. A minute 30 left in the first quarter of play. Dixie nursing a seven nothing lead. Pineview trying to threaten. Third down, 10 yards to go. Greg Sampson looking back at the official for some reason, maybe just trying to find out where Russ Nielsen is. Back to pass Greg Sampson rolling to the left under pressure now rolls to the right under pressure, throws the pass incomplete. No intentional grounding call because Russ Nielsen was within hailing distance. But Mike Grohl once again was right there along with number 84, Josh Sewin. Josh Sewin has put a lot of pressure on the Panthers tonight. I know Josh, championship wrestler. I've watched him on a wrestling mat and he's a great athlete and he's really, really giving our offensive grunts and pits tonight. Transfer from Hurricane, I believe, isn't he? Yes. Back to punt, Eric Sampson. Back deep to receive is Justin Eslin. Eslin settling under it at the 23 yard line. Bursts upfield and right into the arms of leading Panthers. Thumping him right there was Chad Barnes. Barnes along with Sean Coons. So he gets a run back of about 3, maybe 4 yards on the play and a cloud of Panthers. Well, I think here we are again. Of course we took position on our 30 year 30 yard line and now the Panther, the Flyers have done the same thing on their 30 yard line. So let's see what they do. One minute left from the Dixie about the 27 yard line up to the 30 yard line. And it's first down and 10 for the Flyers. Hickman, the quarterback I formation on the running backs, looking to the tailback, handing it off. There's Justin eslin across the 35 down there, the 36 yard line. Espin has had a couple of hundred yard gains this year there. On the tackle, Greg Sampson along with number 61 for Pine View, Ryan Johnson. So Johnson is back. They market back a yard, look like he had an extra yard. They market at the 40. Good to see Ryan Johnson in there I think as the game moves on and he'll feel more comfortable and really be a force on the inside for the panthers. I said 40, actually 35 yards line, a five yard gain. Second down of five, put it at the Dixie 35 yard line. Ryan Hickman starts his man in motion, Deckard right to left. Deckard has not really received had much action tonight. Pitch goes to Eslin. Eslin trapped in his own backfield by Eric Sampson. Sampson, like the mosquito on wet skin, he got there and grabbed it. You know Larry, on that particular play, I don't know if it was by design or whatever the case may might be, But Hector, number 65 came across and took Ryan Anderson out of the play, forced the block and actually they were both ended up on the turf and really kind of left Esalen out there on his own. And of course Sampson was able to come up and make the big play again. I don't know if that was by design or if it just happened that way, but that was really effective for the Panthers that time. On defense. End of the first quarter, Dixie with a seven nothing lead. And instead of turning it back to the studios of KO ny, let me remind you about that Baker, State Farm Insurance. Now that Baker has been a supporter of Pine View for quite a while, provides the little footballs that are tossed into the crowd at halftime. Going to the south this time. Hickman back to pass, has some time. Has it complete to Micah Deckard. Deckard decked at the 45 yard line. Enough for the first down. Dixie got there, Greg Sampson was there. And it looks like cam Bundy. Yes, 89, not 88. Josh Anderson is Cam Bundy, but Sampson is there. Again, it looks like Coach Odette and his staff, they've decided to put a lot of pressure on the outside corners of our defense running at him. And now they've just thrown to that outside and that, that presents problems for the Panthers. First down and 10 for Dixie. Put it at their own 45 yard line. On the run, Justin Asplen. Once again, Asplen quick burst across midfield into Panther territory. Right up the middle, actually to the right side of center. Big hole opened up there and he's close to a first down within about a yard and a half. Well, I tell you, Ryan Anderson is just putting a hit on our end on the outside. Our kids have got to step up and close that hole or that's going to be there all night for the Flyers, we've got to do a better job of shutting that down. That fullback's going right at our defensive end. We've got to plug him right now. First down, or I should say second down, about two yards to go for the Flyers. Put it at the Pine View 47 yard line. Two receivers to the left eye formation. Once again, big Ryan Anderson, maybe the unsung hero tonight. And as coach Ray Odette said, he's been sung around the Dixie ranks. Hand off goes to Justin Esklin. Finds the block, finds the first down. Inside the 45 down near the 43 yard line. Capalion on the tackle once again, correct. Correction. That's Ryan Johnson. Ryan Johnson, for a young man off an appendectomy, he is playing hard, doing a good job and like I said, we're going to see more of him and you'll be calling his name more often as we move through the game. I'm impressed. Like I said, the Flyers have really only ran two offensive plays on the ground so far tonight. That's off tackle and pitch sweep. They really haven't tried to do anything inside the tackles at all tonight. Sometimes they put that man in motion. Deckard, who is also a good sized kid. And he and Anderson lead the way for Esklin. Wide receivers on each side. Back to pass. No, fake the handoff. Now back to pass. Hickman airing it out deep to the right side. All alone is Dixie. And dropped by The Flyers, number 21, Paul Durant. Went right down the sidelines and curled back in behind the Pine View defense. And there he was. Well, I think we need to give credit to Eric Sampson on that too. He obviously got burned because he was standing, was standing there all by himself. But Eric responded, got a hand up and I think if he didn't deflect the ball at least maybe misdirected the ball as far as Durant's focus and forced him and caused him to miss the ball. Had to look over the fingertips to see that one coming in. Hit him midsection. Looked like he tried to turn and run with it too soon. That's right. I think he did. He had his eyes on a touchdown. 7 Nothing Dixie. Second down, 10 yards to go. Put it at the Pine View 47 yard line. Actually, his spot was closer to the 40, I should say 43 yard line. Handoff and a loss of about a yard on the play. And that has been a rarity to denied for Justin Excellence. But I tell you, it's the same play. It's that off tackle where the fullback comes across. The only difference there was that Greg Sampson came up very hard and forced the run. The only thing you're nervous about now is if he's that much run conscious, if they try to capitalize on that and burn him with the pass. Durant to the right side, Deckard to the left side. Split the running backs and Hickman, looking like he wants to pass, pumps once, throws over the middle. Complete, complete, complete over the middle. Short of the first down territory. Just about the 36 yard line to the tight end, Dan Kazir. Kazir, the intended receiver, and got his pass and grabbed it in traffic. There was Josh Anderson. Of course, he was giving a little buffer there, but Josh made a great play on that. You know, the idea of getting that ball across the middle is let the kid catch it on the run and try to turn up the corner or get north and south. And Josh stopped him right there as he caught the ball and has forced their fourth down and two. Fourth down, about two, almost three yards to go. Timeout on the field by Dixie. Nine, 43 left in half, seven nothing. Dixie. Let's take a quick 30 second break and we'll be back on your Panthers sports connection. Koed wide. No, have the experts at Superior Automati repair your vehicle. 600 North Industrial Road here in St. George. Ryan Anderson, the man who picked a ball on the fourth down play and actually lost a little yardage. Pineview ready for Ryan Anderson. So Pineview gets the football. Kind of an interesting wrinkle there by coach Odette. He put Anderson at the tailback position and put Robinson in front of him. I think if he had to do it again, he would have left Eslin there and let Anderson and lead him up through the hole. Actually, as I look at it, he gained almost a yard, but it's still not enough. First down and 10 at the Pineview 35. Out the middle goes Pine View, gain of about three yards on a play, at least two. And Eric Sampson, the man, he is a workhorse for a little guy. He sure carries a ball a lot, does a good job. Good tough kid and just an excellent student for us over at Pine View. That's that little trap play they've run in the past. There has been very effective. Their timing seemed to be a little off that time. I'm not sure exactly why, but the timing on that wasn't as effective as it has been in the last couple of games. Second down, about seven. Almost seven and a half to go. Find you. Suddenly a man appearing on the field and the wide receiver number one out there, back to pass is Greg Sampson. And throwing to that intended receiver knocked away by Dixie there on the coverage was Micah Deckard once again. And the intended receiver was David McCarroll. You know, that's unfortunate. Greg threw that ball a little short because McCarroll. I don't know whether it was because he ran on after or what, but he was wide open and then had to stop to try to get the ball. If he was able to catch that ball in stride, I think he'd still be running. There was. He had Deckard turned around. Deckard had to turn around just to deflect the pass. That's right. Like I said, he. Dave had to come back to the ball. It just gave Deckard enough time to deflect it. Second, third down, about seven yards to go. Almost seven and a half to the right side. Two receivers for Pine View. One of those out there is Cam Bundy, and it looks like the other one is Jeremy Bostwick. One set back, one slot back on the run is Greg Sampson. Greg Sampson has some territory, puts his head down and close to a first out. He was nailed just as he got near that first down by Ned Heaton. But Greg Sampson may have that first down, and those are the kind of things that Greg has got to do to make this offensive team go. It looks like he did get the first. When they. When he's been effective is when he's put the ball down and ran and scrambled and forced that defense to contain him. And that's the very kind of thing that has helped the Panthers over the last couple of weeks to be very effective offensively. Look like he just got to the 45 yard line. They're marking it closer to the 46 yards yard line. So he got a little more than we thought. He lunged forward in there. You know, the thing about those two Sampson kids, they'll stick their nose in it. They're not afraid to contact, and they'll just do you a great job. They don't have the weight. They have to squirm anyway. They can get there. Two receivers, both to the left side, David McCarroll and Cam Bundy. Slot back, running back. Also on the run is Greg Sampson. Under pressure. Flag on the play. Greg Sampson almost intercepted. Pressure there by Ned Heaton once again. And with his hands on the football was Ryan Rosson. But there's a flag on the play in the backfield. Let's see if it's going to be against time view. It is. It's a holding call. And again, remember that. I'm sure that'll be from the point of infraction, which was quite a ways back. So that's going to be a big penalty against the Panthers. Could be a 17 yard penalty. That was quite a ways back from where that flag was thrown. That's right. And Josh Sewin again, I think he was the one that was held out there. He's just putting all kinds of pressure on Greg and he's also shown some great quickness out there that Greg can't run away from. And so we've got to do a better job of containing number 84, Josh Sewin. First expression is Holy Toledo. It goes back to the 28 yard line. So that's a loss of 18 yards on the penalty because of the hole. Big problems for Pineview. That's first down and what is it? A furlong first down in about 28 yards to go. Make it 27. Important here, Larry. They don't try to get it all at once. I think do a couple things short. Just try to work out a little time. Cam Bundy in motion, left to right, back to pass is Greg Sampson setting up the screen. Pass to brother Eric. Eric has some running room. Gets a block across the 35 yard line. Across the 40. Pushed out of bounds near the 41 yard line there on the tackle by Dixie, it's Kip Fowler. Fowler, hard nosed little ball player along with number 42 Shane Callahan. That's a great call to capitalize of course on that rush. The idea of the screen, of course, letting those rushers come in and throwing the ball over the top of them. And in this case, we got the ball in Eric's hands and looks like we got back about 15 of the yards that we lost on that last penalty. Second down, about 16 yards to go. Almost. Well, 15 and a half. He's Eric and Greg Sampson. A feature just a couple of weeks ago on ESPN. Timeout by Pineview with 7:18 left in the first half of play. Seven nothing, Dixie. Let's just take this 30 second break on your Panthers sports connection, Kon Live. A lot of us procrastinate until cold weather hits, then say, oh, I should have got ready. The professionals at Russ's can handle it. Avoid the rush. Get it done now at Russ's Texaco, 297 West St. George Boulevard. Back at the Hanson Stadium and you were mentioning Jim, as we were off, that the kids, the receivers have grown a little more accustomed to Greg Sampson. Well, you know, the thing with Greg is he'll. He can buy himself 7, 8 seconds out there just scrambling around and getting away from people. And I know the kids, the receivers have been very well coached. And what you try to tell them is to find a lane and make yourself big. And you'll see the kids out there, Greg scrambling, waving their arms, you know, like they're flagging on a street, trying to make sure that you he sees him and then trying to find a passing lane there for him. Obviously one of the detriments or one of the, the problems that Greg has is just not quite tall enough to see over people if he sits back in the pocket. Second down, almost 16 yards to go. In motion is Eric Sampson. That leaves Greg all by himself back there now on the scramble, gets the block from Russ Nielsen throwing deep over the middle. It may be short grabbed. Is it picked off? No. Incomplete into the hands of Kip Fowler. Ned Heaton was also there. Kip Fowler could not hang on to it, but it was closer to Kip than anyone else. I think Kip had it until he lit on his back. He was up in the air quite a ways to get the ball and the actual jolt of the ground knocked it loose. But that's a break. Well, I don't know. If you'd look at it both ways, that could have been a heck of a punt for the Panthers too. But at least it gives us a third down and 15 to come back and try to pick up the first a 15. 15 and a half yards to go. Just across the 40 yard line to the Dixie side is Italian View, 40 yard line. Panthers with the football trailing seven nothing, 709 left in the first half of play in Pine View. Trying to keep a drive alive. Excuse the poetry on that. I guess you better use it anyway. Cam Bundy in motion, left to right, back to pass. Greg Sampson. Here comes the pressure. Throws his little screen pass, has it complete to Russ Nielsen short of the first down gain of about six, almost eight yards on the play actually and was nailed there by Dixie. I think Dixie was looking for that little flat pass that was effective. And of course Dixie playing defense there, no knew that they had to get 15 for the first and played it very well. Draw attention to Josh sewing again on that outside was really bearing down on Greg Sampson. Fourth down at the 48 yard line. Eric Sampson to do the boating bag date is Justin Esplin kicked away from Eslin and getting a Pine View bounce inside the six down right at the five yard line. Justin Eslin had a notion to grab that and try to run with it and you're never quite sure. That's one of those things, Larry, you know, as a coach, you tell the kids to stand on the 10 yard line and if you have to back up to receive the ball, just walk away and take your chances of it rolling the end zone. If you can catch it and step forward and take the ball, either fair catch it or run with it. And that was one of those right in the middle, I'm sure where Essen got a little bit mixed up. Didn't know whether to field it or catch it and got a good, good break for the Panthers and we pinned the Flyers deep in their own territory. Let's see if we can hold them there. For the Panthers. It's the defensive call for the Flyers. Try to get something started. This is the challenge. You have 95 yards to go. High formation off the running backs. Ryan Anderson in front of tailback Justin Esplin, who has had a whale of a night in this first half already for Dixie. Wide receivers on each side. Deckard from the left in motion to the right. Scrambling the Pine View defensive backfield. Fake the handoff on the end around. Here comes Kip Fowler. Fowler has the five yard line at the 10, at the 15, at the 20. Upended by Pine View at about the 21 yard line. And Kip Fowler big end around play from the right to the left and Pine View with a saving tackle. I tell you, that was a wide open play. I never thought that I would see coach Odette run that. Played on his own five yard line. He's not quite as conservative as he used to be. That was a wide open play and a great tackle by Josh Anderson or that would have been a 95 yard touchdown run. We talked about Josh Anderson in the pregame interview. He has been a fine for coach Chris Brockman and say that you touchdown that time. Wide receivers on each side. Pitch goes to the tailback Eslin Looking for the blockers. This time Pine View got behind the blockers and the big man for Pine View who did the job was Jared Green. He got in there behind the blocking. Well, that was a great job of pursuit by the Panthers there. You know, as I mentioned to you, the Flyers have yet to try to do anything in between the tackles. It's obvious that they're, they've read the Panthers outside and feel like they can capitalize on them from the tackles out. And that's exactly what they've done and been very effective in moving the ball. What we've got to do is put a lot more pressure on those hands and and get a better play from our outside linebackers and defensive ends. Second down, a little over 13 yards to go near the 17 yard line. Back to pass, make the handoff to Eslin. Hickman has some time throwing deep to the left side, has his nine complete and off to the races is Dixie. There's Dan K. Kazir. Touchdown. Brian Hickman to Dan Kazir and great, great play as Hickman just froze Pine View's defense. Well, it was a good play. You know, it was kind of a one on one thing and he threw the ball up well enough and the idea was to run underneath it and we were there defensively, tried to knock the ball down. Let's give credit to the Flyers. Great execution of the play and just a great job. 509 left in the first half of play. It's 13 to nothing and left footed Mike Grohl. Low slap flag on the play. Whistles everywhere. Kip Fowler had to catch that on the second bounce. And Kip, you know, I think that would be a nervous situation. I've never been there before far Larry, but to sit there and have those people bearing down on you and watching and try to blow the whistle dead with the official, would make you a little nervous having those people come on you. Even though it is a penalty against find you half the distance to the goal line. You're not talking a whole bunch here. Yeah, it must have been an encroachment call, of course, on the Panthers. Little anxious, little nervous about it. I'm interested to see how the Panthers are going to respond to this big play touchdown at the that Flyers have just had. It's important that we come back, sustain some kind of a drive offensively. One solid drive and then the explosion to Dan Kazira. Two touchdowns for Dixie, nothing yet for Pineview. The snap, the kick up by Grove looks like it'll fade to the left. No good. So with 509 left in the first half, 13 to nothing Dixie over Pineview will be back in 60 seconds on your Panthers Sports Connection. KO NY. You know, vehicles are more sophisticated these days. Dixie with it lead. The kick coming down to the eight yard line taken by Yale Morby. Morby right up the sidelines across the 30. Fumble on the play. Did Dixie recover. Morby got to near the 38 yard line and coughed up the football. And Dixie with the recovery and it looks like number 22. So it'll be first down and 10 for Dixie with 447 left in the first half of play and a healthy 13 to nothing lead. It's looking healthier now. Dixie has the football at their own 42 or at the Pineview 42 yard line. Long count by Hickman in motion. Deckard left to right. Handoff goes to Esplin. Esplin as he cuts up field. Nailed this time tripped up there by Jared Green. And Green is starting to find Eslin's number more often. I'm glad to see that happening again. We're getting better play out of our ends. And of course Green, he's coming in off the bench and I'm sure going fired up by Coach Brockman to get in there and do the job. And that's the same design. I'm sure they've run that play 10 times tonight. That time Esplin tried to cut it back into the middle to find a scene, but we contained him very well. Second down, 8 yards to go. Put it at the Pine View 40 yard line and Dixie threatening once again after the fumble recovery. Two receivers left eye formation on the running backs. New running back in there. Let's double check who in motion is Deckard. Left to right. Pitch goes to Ryan Anderson. Back at tailback now. Anderson hugged down by Joel Gibson. Gibson was not to be denied this time. Game of a gain of a couple of yards. Cam Bundy came in to help also. Well, once again, you know, they're just, they're just attacking the outside and forcing the Panthers to come up and, and contain him on those outside corners again. It's going to be interesting to see. I think Hickman obviously going to come out, throw again. I wouldn't, I wouldn't be surprised if they see a play action. Pass and throw the ball to Anderson again. Out in the flat. Third down, six yards to go. Put it at the 38 yard line of pants Pineview. Two for touchdown passes tonight for Hickman. That's eight on the year for the junior. And yes, it's the same Brian Hickman who started last year as a sophomore and yes, he does have a year left. Back to pass. Hickman pumping once, pumping twice. Cam Bundy, the closest man out there. Fowler went upfield instead of to the outside. That was a different read, I'm sure. Kip, what you tell the kids to do is run me out when you get to the sideline. Turn up the field. That time Kip maybe turned up a little too soon and. And the Hickman kid thought he was going to go to the sideline. Kind of a miscue. Luckily for the Panthers that we've checked them on this, hopefully can get the ball now and sustain some kind of an offensive drive. Fourth down and six at the Pineview 38 yard line. Gut check you mentioned. Well, Pine View has check this so far. Mike Gro to do the putting back deep his fine view, but it may just be academic. Grohl aiming for the angle for the corner. Beautiful kick, but it looked like it was going to go farther than it did. It must hit a jet stream up there. Looked like it was going to go right into the corner. Instead fell short near the 13 yard line. But still not bad position for Dixie's defense. Poor position for Pine View's offense. Grove's got a great buddy. Reminds me of Roby, you know, from the. The Dolphins is Miami Dolphins. He really boosted. And you're right, I thought that thing was saying into the end zone and it kind of died on the vine and ended up being a great kick for the Flyers. Mind you, our Dixie has had some left footed kickers over the year. Way back when Gary Allred was an outstanding kicker for Dixie. Went on to Dixie College and then to the University of Utah. Triple set to the left kind of slot back as the third man handoff is goes to the tailback Eric Sampson struggling across the 15 yard line down near the 16 yard line. Mike Grow in a cast of thousands there, but Eric Sampson still getting in there. Also in there with Grow was Shane Callahan. You know, one of the things I'd like to see us do here, Larry, as far as the Panthers are concerned is maybe open up a little bit and and get ourselves in a kicking situation. Greg Sampson just has a great foot and I think it's important we try to get points on the board this half. Going in second down on a long six, just short of the 17 yard line. Handoff goes to Eric Sampson again, right in the middle. Eric Sampson looked like he was stopped at the 18 yard line, fell forward and slipped off a defender to the 20. That's that little trap play inside again. And as usual, coach Odette has very well prepared these kids and they're looking for that because that's been a very effective play for the Panthers over the last two or three games. Eric's had big gainers of 60, 70 yards at a time. So so far the Flyers have scouted that out and done a good job of shutting down that inside trap. 13 nothing. Dixie out in front of Pine view. Pine View, third down and a short three just across their own 20 yard line. Quarterback Greg Sampson sentence his man in motion pitch goes to the tailback Eric Sampson near the first down. Eric very close to first down territory. Looks like he may have it from this angle. The spot will be critical on the tackle is Pat Dunleavy. Dunleavy in there and they'll say he got clear to the 25 yard line. I didn't think he made it that far, but the officials at the sideline said yes, I think he did. You know, like you said, he made that extra little spurt there at the end, I think, and picked up a couple yards and able to get the first down. Those are the kind of things and Eric Sampson will do for you. Much like I'm seeing the Eskom kid do for the the Flyers tonight. First down and 10. Actually a little closer to the 24 than to the 25. Two men as wide receivers to the left side. McCarroll in motion this time. Greg Sampson back to pass throwing intended out there for David McCarroll off his fingertips. The reason why? Partially deflected by Paul Durant. Yeah, I was kind of nervous on that, Larry. That's one of those passes that if it's intercepted, he can just kind of dance into the end zone. And it was very nerve nervous. But Dave McCarrol did a great job. Have been a good receiver for the Panthers this year. Been a pleasant surprise. Made some big catches over the middle and have done some things to break some big plays for the Panthers. One of those scratch the cue ball sort of passes. That's exactly right. A lot of green out there for the wrong way. Wide receivers on each side this time. Greg Sampson, one setback, one slot. Back to the left in motion. Coming right to left is the receiver. Handoff again, goes to the tail. Back to every Eric Sampson gain of about a yard, maybe two on the play. Not a whole bunch. Eric Sampson on the game. The man who's in motion from one side to the other is Brent Bunnell who is in as a wide receiver. Gain of a couple of yards on a play. Well, I tell you on that. That was that little trap play inside again, Larry. And I was really impressed with Clay Russell, number 77 that time for the pliers. We went to trap him and he just stuffed him right in the hole. He didn't even move. And that's what kind of clogged things up in there and held us for no gain. Time out on the field. With a minute 10 left and a half, it's 13 to nothing Dixie out in front of Pine View. Let's just take a 30 second break and we'll be back with more on your Panthers sports connection. Has it complete enough for the first down. Yes. Across the 40 yard line. Near the 44 yard line. Pass completed to number 42. That is Jeremy Bostwick. No huddle offense this time. Greg Sampson ready to come right back. Go for the first down at the Pineview 44 yard line or correction, 39 yard line. I said 44. 39 pass almost intercepted by Paul Durant to the right side to McCarroll again. And there was Durant this time, both hands on it. Well, I tell you, three's a charm. We better not throw it out there like that anymore. I think I'd like to see us do is he broke on that ball very well. It might do good to give him a pump fake and turn our receiver up the field because I think he's reading gained or set on getting that interception in the flat. Greg Sampson lines up behind the right guard, then decides the centers over there. Greg Sampson now throwing deep wobbly pass out there is McCarroll. It's going to be intercepted by Dixie. Micah Deckard coming back the other way, takes it at his own 36 across midfield down inside Pineview territory. That ends that drive with an exclamation point and Micah Deckard first pass reception. But it's off the Pineview quarterback. That's the scary thing there. What we're looking at now, Larry, is putting Hickman back on the field with his arm and with 41 seconds he obviously has shown the capability of striking on the first or second place. So hopefully we're putting our kids back at center field and not going to give Dixie the chance to put another touchdown on the board before the halftime as interception by Deckard. That is not his first reception of the night. He had one on offense. Timeout by Dixie. Jerry Dyer out to talk with the flyers. 13 nothing. The lead. Dixie out in front with 41 seconds left in a half. It looks like it. Cam Bundy and Eric Sampson there. Same pass that Dix, that Pineview has been playing with tonight, Dixie completes. That's true, except what we're having to do here is we're giving them a lot of room, of course here at the end of the half and we'll give them those kind of plays. We just want to keep them out of the end zone. First down and 10 footed at the Pineview 21 yard line. Split the running backs behind quarterback Brian Hickman. Two steps back, quick pass, looking pass has a complete inside the 5 yard line to Kip Fowler. 20 seconds left on the clock. First down and goal to go. And so Hickman and Fowler connecting once again and it is threatening time now for Pineview. Well, that was really effective for him. What we've got to try to do now is force them inside the playing field. They've just called the timeout though, so they can't stop the clock. And of course you, you know, looking at the kid, the kicker, the left footed kicker, what was his name? I grow, grow. He's been effective. So I don't know. Coach Odette, I'm sure with the situation, might try a couple plays and then go for the three in this situation and try to go in at halftime. 16 Zip offensive coordinator Jerry Dyer talking with coach Ray Odette. And now Dyer walks in to talk with his quarterback. Jerry's done a great job. He was a great quarterback himself and I know he's a excited to have someone with the talent of a Brian Hickman out there and let him portray his talents. I had the opportunity of playing football many, many years ago at Jerry Dyer in college and very effective quarterback and good leader and, and knows the game very well. Wild throwing son of a gun, right? That's right. He put it up anytime, anywhere. In fact, I think he still has several of the passing records at Southern Utah and they've had some good quarterback since he. He did. In fact, the one one year that we played, Jerry ended up as an all American in the NAIA ranks because of his abilities. Had some great Receivers and stayed healthy that year and just did a great job of winging the ball. Two receivers to the left, Kip Fowler and Micah Deckard to split the running backs behind quarterback. Hickman is at the pass, five yard line. First and goal to go back to pass. Hickman swings the pass, has it to Esplin. No, Esplin can't hang on to it. Actually a break prediction that he dropped it stops the clock and they don't lose yardage. Well, I think in Eskland's case, very smart move by him. I thought he had caught it, but I think he purposefully just let the ball go. That, that shows you the heads up play by a senior out there that knows what's happening. It would have obviously been to our advantage to have him catch that ball and keep the clock running, but now it looks like they'll get at least two more plays off. 16 seconds left in the half. It's second and goal. Put it at the fine view five. It's the pass interception in a big, big run back by Micah Deckard that has given Dixie this opportunity to get plenty of distance. Pass over the middle intended for Fowler. Deflected by Josh Anderson and Fowler just had it in his fingertips and couldn't hang on. Well, there's the same kind of situation the other way though, Larry. I tell you, Josh Anderson, if he would have picked that ball off, he had nothing but turf in front of him. I imagine one of the Dixie Flyers might even able to run him down, but he would have gotten got a long ways. Fortunately though, Josh was able to deflect the ball and you know, hold the fires for one more down. I'm view versus Dixie, the cross county rivalry. Well, not that far across counties, just over the over the ridge from one another. It's 13 nothing. Dixie and Dixie threatening once again. Two receivers out to the left. One of those happens to be Paul Durant who has one touchdown reception to his credit already this year. Fake the handoff to Espin, pass over the middle. There's Durant deflected, almost intercepted again and the man who was there is Josh Anderson. Josh Anderson. Two big plays. It's too bad on that particular play, the first was more of a deflection. On this one, I think Josh could have intercepted and you know, would have forced coach Odette out of his field goal situation. But great play by Josh out there. Heads up. Josh Anderson saving the touchdown because Durant was there and no one else was around him. That's exactly right. He was able to cut in front of him and knock the ball down. Timeout by Pineview with seven seconds left in the half. Thirteen nothing. Dixie. Instead of turning the back, let me just remind you that Pat Baker, State Farm Insurance, at 515 North Bluff in St. George, is your man for State Farm Insurance. Call him at 673-1122. Pat has been a supporter of Pine View High School athletics and has supplied the little footballs that get thrown out to the crowd during the games over at Panthers Stadium. Remember, for life insurance, whole life universal life term, you talk about the insurance that you need for your life insurance. Talk with Pat Baker, State Farm Insurance. Now, we can talk about the home and the health and even the auto and all the rest of it. But remember, for life insurance, it's Pat Baker, like a good neighbor. State Farm is there. Pat Baker, State Farm Insurance. Here's a situation where Coach Odette may go for the fake. You know, I never thought he'd run a reverse on his own five. I never thought he'd go for a fake here. But you never, never know. With a 13 to nothing lead, he might try to put another touchdown on the board and really bury us going in half. 23 yard attempt. And there are narrow college goal posts here. That's the question. Fake you called it back to passes Fowler in the end zone. Incomplete. Through the hands of Kazir. Kazir was there, Deckard was there. Through the hands of Kazir or Deckard might have had it, I tell you. Oh, Ray, he's pulling everything out of his pockets. You know, I even saw him the other day with shorts and white shoes on and I couldn't believe it was the same guy. So Ray's getting liberal on us and I think it's a good move, not a bad coaching move there to try to capitalize on that and really put us down. Now he goes in 13 zip and still has control of this football game. Must be eating more than oatmeal for breakfast. First down in Chat at the five yard line. Five takes over. They have two seconds to put together a drive. The cautious thing is now you don't want it intercepted for a touchdown. If you want to make the big play and get the score, great, or do you just keep it? Greg Sampson on the first up the middle gets five yards in the end of the first half, it's 13 to nothing, Dixie out in front. Greg Sampson wisely just hanging on to the football. If he breaks it, he breaks it. Otherwise he stops everything. Not a bad first half in spite of the 13 nothing deficit. Well, I Think we've moved the ball Well, a couple big plays really killed us. Turnovers, of course, we know that we got the turnover. We held them in check the one time on the kickoff, but then they came back, had great field position and Hickman burnt us deep. There's no question about it. Great athlete, has the ability to do that. And not to be repetitive, but we are a second half team, Larry and I think our coaching staff should be credited with doing a great job at halftime and making adjustments. They just killed us on our outside, particularly that first quarter and that first drive for the touchdown with the Esplin kid just kind of going at will on the outside with Anderson leading the way of clearing it for him. Obviously we're going to make some adjustments there and try to do some things. I know Coach Brotman going in mentioned that he wanted to put a lot of pressure on Hickman and we've yet to do that. And second quarter, I feel the Flyers really have controlled the line of scrimmage against us and we've got to fire kids up out there and do a better job of controlling that line of scrimmage. 13 to nothing is the first half score. Dixie out in front. It's all you could ask for of a Dixie Pineview game, and it is. Let's take a 90 second break. We'll be back and recap the first half. Scoring 13 to nothing, Dixie over Pine View. You're with your Panthers Sports connection. K o n y. Second down, 13 yards to go wide with the left side. Two men. Randy Richardson, who's back in seeing action, first time since that shoulder injury. And David McCarroll. The pass to Richardson complete. No, it isn't. They say it skips into his hand. From our angle, it looks almost like he had it, but both officials say it skipped. Yeah, I thought it was a good reception. Of course, obviously the angle we have is not as good as what they might have. There's a deal where officials, they look at each other and get a visual look at each other to see how that call might go. The linesman really didn't have a very good view of it, but the umpire on the backfield did a great job of calling the play and there wasn't any complaining by the Pine View coaches. So apparently must be a good call. I think they were screened out too. Third down, about 13 yards to go. Just about the 15 yard line of Pine View slant. The running backs behind quarterback Greg Sampson. Triple set, no, double set to the left and back in motion is Cam Bundy in motion. In plenty of motion is Greg Sampson. He's not going to get away from Mike Gross sack on the play. Clear back to the seven yard line. Also in there on the tackle was. Looks like Dan Kazir in there along with Mike Grove. Grow is leading the charge again. Yeah, there's one of those situations with Greg. He didn't have any vision downfield of what was happening and tried to free himself out of the pocket and just felt a lot of pressure and did a good job of holding on to the football. Really. Fourth down and about 21 yards to go. The boot away under pressure will angle out of bounds. The question is, where did it go? Out of bounds. The officials still trudging up now near the 35, 36, 36 yard line is where he says it went out of bounds. So given the pressure, not a bad punt. Given the field position, it's excellent for Dixie, I tell you. You know, as I mentioned going into this, a lot is determined by the first series and I hope that's not an indication of the way the second half's gonna go. Football and basketball, that first few minutes in the third quarter makes a world of difference. It does make a big difference. And it's a momentum swing is what you feel here. And Dixie definitely has come out with the momentum. Two receivers to the right. Handoff goes to Justin Esplin. Esplin juggles the feet just a little bit, just kind of does a little side to side there. Head fakes and gets about 3 yards. That's about it. Tried to find a bigger hole, but finally you closed it off. Well, that's the first time we've seen them in a split formation with their backs in a. In a split formation and then run the dive. Usually coach Odette, when he goes into that formation, will pass the ball. But he does use that quick dive and that's the first time we've seen that play tonight. Second down In a short seven, almost six yards. Just inside the Pine View 33. So Dixie is threatening once again. Last time Dixie got deep. Pine View snuffed out the rally. Take the handoff end around. Here it comes. Micah Deckard. Deckard being chased. Beautiful block thrown against James. Jared Green. Deckard gets some yardage and Green is on his numbers right now. Dan Kazir just leveled. Just leveled. Jarrett Green. Green has been in the backfield of Dixie all night, but this time he's getting up and is bent over. That was a great block. Jared really wasn't anticipating it. That happens. It's kind of like the outfielder that's heading for the home run ball that doesn't notice the faces there. And he peeled back and really laid it too. I think what happened to Jared probably knocked the wind out of him. He's a tough kid. He's on his feet and he's going to be okay. Gain of about four yards on the play. Just inside the 29s to make it third down and about three yards to go. Quick check. Jared is okay. He's breathing again. Movement along that line of scrimmage. There's got to be some flags. Quick looking pass was complete to get Fowler. Whistles were delayed, flags were delayed even more, but everyone could see that there was movement along that line. It had to stop. A lot of confusion on both sides of the football. I know we had people jumping around trying to see where strength was and so forth. And Dixie was doing the same thing. And it looks like an illegal procedure call against the Flyers. Move it back to the Pine View 34 yard line. Make it third down and eight yards to go. Thirteen to nothing. Dixie over Pine View. And the Flyers threatening once again. Third and eight for the Flyers. Brian Hickman is halfway into Mohave County, Arizona where he put that, put that huddle there. It's going to be 10 seconds for him. Just get up to the line of scrimmage to the right side. Two receivers, one of which happens to be Micah Deckard, the other one happens to be Kip Fowler. Split the running backs behind quarterback Brian Hickman has had an excellent night. Hickman back to pass, has some time. Pumps once, throws deep to the outside. There's Deckard. Complete touchdown. Hickman knew Deckard was out there and nailed him just in the end zone. Deckard almost slotted away at the last minute, but Deckard got it. Got the touchdown. Third score of the night for Dixie. This one comes with 9:14 left in the third quarter of play. And now a 19 to nothing disadvantage is looking serious behind you. That looks awfully serious, Larry. I'm surprised that we're not going aggressive to the ball. That ball was really hung up there for grabs and the Decker kid just wanted it worse than we did and went in there and got it. I would hope that we would be more aggressive. Dixie for the two point conversion. Hickman pumps twice, has it in the end zone through the hands of Deckard and it'll stay incomplete on that. On that two point conversion. 9:14 left in the third quarter, 19 to nothing. Dixie has jumped out in front. Let's take a 30 second break. We'll be back with more on your Panthers sports connection. Back at the back at the studios of Ko NY 19 to nothing, Dixie has jumped out to the lead there. That touchdown reception by Deckard marks his fifth touchdown of the year and that's the ninth touchdown pass by Brian Hickman. Flags on the play as the kick goes. Well left handed kickers kind of kick against the world, don't they Jim? You know and that really is an advantage. A lot of times there's a different spin, a different English, if you will, on the ball and maybe that's what's bothering Eric Sampson tonight. I know he's not only on the kickoff but on a punt which grow does both of had a hard time handling it. There is a different spin on the ball when it comes off that left foot and of course like I don't know what the percentages are maybe you know Larry in terms of left hand footed and right footed kickers or even people as far as that goes, you don't face a left footed person very often. I said left handed, I meant left footed. I'm glad you corrected that. I'm not sure about left footedness. I know left handedness is around 33 to 35% of the population, which is up from what it used to be. Rowe squirms this one and one bounce into the hands of Sampson and his own 15 yard line. Sampson still on his feet at the 35 yard line and off his feet at the 38 yard line. Thomas, Matt Thomas, a little five seven junior running back, came up and met Eric Sampson. This was a case of staring eye to eye with your tackle. That's one of the few times Eric Sampson's had that this year. Thomas made a great tackle. Open field on that. It's tough to bring Eric down on the open field. Put it at just beyond the 38 yard line almost to the 39 yard line. Line. So good run back by Eric Sampson, like picking up that infield grounder. One bounce, quick pass over the middle has it complete for Pine View. First down in Dixie territory, inside the 30 yard line. A little quick hitting pass right over the middle and a beautiful, beautiful pass completion. I tell you, Ryan Forbes did a great job and that's the kind of thing, Larry, that I'm hoping that we're going to see. We, we can't, we've proven that we can't sit and go toe to toe with Dixie and try to take it and pound it out. Right now we've got to open up, get them on their heels and do those kind of things to take advantage of alignment. That time we were in trip receivers to the right side, ran Eric in motion left and through to our tight end. Those are the kind of things we've got to do. Right over the middle and a quick down to the 27 yard line of Dixie. Everybody away from Greg Sampson. He's back there by himself, throwing it up for grabs. There is Forbes. Ball knocked away by Deckard and actually Deckard may have cost a pass interception by trying to get it himself. Oh, I hate to see, you know, Greg has not done that very often this year in terms of throwing that ball up for grabs. But he was almost on his backside when he threw that. I think it's a situation, Greg's such a competitor, it's just eating him up inside to be down 19 zip. And he's trying to force something to happen. But those kind of situations won't force something to happen for us. They could, you know, turn into an instant turnover. So we've got to be careful. Can't get it all back at once. You're down three touchdowns, some extra points have been missed, so that makes it a little easier for Pine View. But you need it one at a time. Sampson quarterback draw play, gets a yard, maybe two down inside the 24 yard line. Dragged down from behind by Kazir. Dan Kazir chasing Sampson in the backfield. Suddenly Sampson wasn't there, but Kazir stayed with it. Kazir is an impressive athlete, I tell you. I think as I compare this Dixie team to the Springville Red Devils, I think a lot more talented. I've been impressed with the Flyers tonight with their team quickness and particularly on that front line with Kazir and Sue and on the ends. They put a lot of pressure on us tonight. Third down and a long eight yards to go. Just about the Dixie 25 yard line. Pineview with one of their best chances of the night to pick up points. Wide receivers on each side. Pitch goes back to Eric Sampson. Is it the end around? Yes. Sampson hands it right into the man who's going to come back and run into Dixie defenders. Yale Morby from that left side was nailed. Eric Sampson actually had a better shot if he kept the football. I think so. And there's a case where if he would have faked the handoff and then maybe taken it around the corner himself and broken a tackle, wouldn't have been a lot better off. But Yale really didn't have an opportunity to do much with the ball. As soon as he got it, he was hit by three flyers. Fourth down and 18 yards to go. A loss of 10 yards on the play. Timeout by Pineview with 719 left in the third quarter, 19 to nothing. Dixie out in front of Pine View. We'll take a 30 second break and have more on your Panthers Sports Connection. Fourth down, long yardage to go. Fourth down and 18. And Pine View may be going for it. Jim, I think we're in a situation here. It's really not too bad field position to give up and coach. Coach Brockman obviously feels that he needs to try to keep this drive going to get the points on the board. So let's see how it turns out. Fine. The risk is you might lose more. Yardage in motion. Eric Sampson. Greg Sampson gets a block. Greg Sampson on the run. Throws intended for David McCarroll off his fingertips. Incomplete. Back there on the coverage is Ned Heaton. So Dixie will take over on the incompleted pass with 713 left in the third quarter of play. It's first down and 10 for the Flyers, but keep it right at the Dixie 35 yard line. I don't know, Havers. Like I said, that's exactly right. It's kind of a sixes type of a decision. You don't know the effectiveness of their offense. If we can hold them from here, if we could have held them from the five yard line on a punt to the coffin corner. But let's see if the Flyers can do something defensively and pick up their intensity. The gamble is if you get something going, then you have something really going. You're starting to get something started against a team that has shut you down on the night. Brian Hickman hands off to Justin Esplin. Esplin hesitates a little hesitation step and finally, like a worm going under the dirt, he found some yardage in there someplace before finally Jared Green got ahold of him, among others. That was a little counterplay inside. I know Coach Odets had in his skateboard for quite a while. We were able to do a good job with that one and shut them down. You know, if we can force them into these long situations, at least we know what they're going to do and try to come back and defend it. It's when you have second one, second two that it's really tough to defend out there. Justin found a couple of extra yards to make it. Second down and seven at the Dixie 38 yard line and off again, this time a couple of yards. Getting up off the bottom of the stack is Ryan Anderson. Anderson is a musket or young man and he has some power. He really is. And he's a specimen of what he is. If you see him, he's a prototype. I'm sure that will have bigger schools and he's going to have an opportunity to play after high school. I know Micah Deckard is going to have a shot at playing because of his size and the way he has his hands, what they work for, little down and out pattern. It has a complete to Micah Decker. Deckard has the first down into Pine View territory. Deckard looked like he was going to be pushed out of bounds by Cam Bundy suddenly eluded him and Bundy had to stay with him to finally bring him down. That's right. You know that that sideline is kind of deceiving down there. You know, there's an interesting thing where your home feels a lot different. The distance between the outside of the our field in the track is quite a bit less than what you see here. I don't know if that's a factor or not, but Seemed like the kids kind of backed off a little bit and he was able to squirt for about another five yards. Down to the Pineview 46 yard line. First down and 10. So into Pine View territory is the Flyers and fake the handoff. Hickman under pressure, throwing over the middle back there is Josh Anderson. But suddenly Dixie appears for the reception. First and 10 inside the 15 at the 13. And there was Paul Durant. Durant curled back to get the pass. Yeah, you know, there's one of those plays where we had the same thing happen with us up at Payson last week. The ball was actually very poorly thrown. We had a little pressure on Hickman. The ball was thrown up, kind of wobbled and it was thrown short. Our defender was running deep with Durant and he was able to pick up the ball and cut back and made a nice grab though. It made a nice grab to complete it. We got to keep the Flyers out here, Larry. We're in big trouble. And actually it looked like Josh Anderson had the shot at the interception, but suddenly it was Durant with the reception. Instead. Hand off quickly to Ryan Anderson. Diving inside the 10, down near the nine yard line. See where they mark that? There on the tackle is big number 61, Ryan Johnson. Again, I think that's where you know the Ryan Anderson be effective for you. I know Coach Odette's put him at the pitch back or the the iback on a couple situations, but he's a big old horse in there. I think if he's only about 3 yards off the line of scrimmage, he can really hurt you inside. Second down, seven yards to go. Put it at the Pine View 10 yard line. And the Flyers are kicking at the door. They want another score to make this one almost the lapper. But Pine View trying to stop this and get back in the game. Pitch goes to the 10. Justin Eslin trying to find his hole. He's found one inside the five. First and goal down inside the three yard line. Tackled, saving tackle by Josh Anderson. He just bulldog him to the turf. Impressive run. You know, the thing that I like about the Eslin kid is he runs north and south. You know, a lot of times you get these littler kids like that that don't really want to put their head in it, and they end up running a lot and wasting a lot of energy running laterally. But boy, I tell you, when Eslin sees a scene, he runs north and south in a hurry. That was a great run. Listed at only £160 at 5ft 9 actually he plays heavier and bigger than that high formation. Sotman right wide receiver right first down and goal from the three yard line. Handoff. Eslin. Eslin has a yard and was just knifed down by Joel Gibson. Been told out there to try to strip that ballers. We've got got to have a big defensive play out here to try to keep him out of the end zone. Gain of about a yard and a half. Just outside just to the Dixie side of the one yard line. Second down goal to go. Dixie trying to pound this one in. Looking for the fourth touchdown of the night. Leading 19 to nothing over Pine View in the third quarter. And off Anderson. There it is, Ryan Anderson for the fifth time this year. Touchdown Dixie. That makes it 25 nothing and Ryan Anderson is golden when it comes to those short yardage touchdown situation. It's nice to have a back like that. I know you know last year we had a couple with Brad Bostwick and and it makes a difference to be able to do that and have a back that can really power it in there for you. Touchdown by Anderson. Going for the two point conversion again look in goes to Fowler. Two point conversation. Conversion completed. So finally Dixie gets the conversion. The two pointer they've been looking for. With 405 left in the third quarter of play it is 27 to nothing Dixie over Pine View. Ricks is playing Eastern Arizona on the Friday night because of the LDS Church General Conference coming up tomorrow. 27 to nothing after the two point conversion back to receive Yale Morby on the near side, Eric Sampson in the middle and Russ Nielsen on the far side and left footed Mike Grow to do the honors for the Flyers. 27 to nothing pine View a long ways to come. Back now. Moreby at the yard line at the 15, at the 20, at the 25. Angling to the left side at the 26 yard line. Across the 30 down near the 31 yard line. Finally Morby nailed there by big number 84, Josh Sewin again. Sewin is right in the middle of a lot of things. He's become stalwart since he transferred from Hurricane sue and you know, great athlete, a great kid, really. I've watched him compete a, as I mentioned, on the wrestling mat and should be the pre pick as a state champion in his weight this year and just fine athlete. Done it, doing a great job. First down and 10 at the Pine View 31 yard line. McCarroll in motion right to left. Quick. Greg Sampson quick look in pass intended for Bostwick. Incomplete at pass there on the coverage was Ned Eaton and Richard Locker, both of them right there. I think that time Jeremy, he had a couple, couple people bearing down on him that time and just took his eye off the ball long enough to drop it. And of course that's what you try to tell a defensive back to do out there, is make them see you so that they know they're going to get hit. And sometimes it can force that kind of a thing that Jeremy experienced there in motion. Left to right is Pine View. Handoff goes up the middle to Eric Sampson. Sampson gets a yard, maybe two. On the tackle is Dan Kazir once again along with Ryan Robison. Gain of a couple of yards on the play by Eric Sampson. He just keeps pounding away. Well, I tell you, and that's great, but I think right now, Larry, we've got a. And of course I know Coach Draughtman might be a little nervous about another turnover and possibly giving up a score, but Eric's not going to do much running that little trap inside at three yards of the pop. We've got to open up here a little bit and try to get some points out on the board. Third down in a short 8 yards, just across the 33 yard line of Pineview. One setback, triple set to the right and Eric Sampson now in motion to the right. That puts four receivers out to the right side and Greg Sampson with pressure is going to be nailed. Dan Kazeer got through. Kazir just would not let Greg Sampson see where the football was. Greg Sampson gets up and kicks the football in disgust and gets an unsportsman by conduct car. Well, like I said, I hate to see Greg do that out there and you know, that's a sign of losing control, but very frustrated. Like I mentioned, a great competitor and I'm sure he's upset at his offensive line. I thought it was a screenplay, to be honest with you, and it wasn't that design at all. The front line of the Dixie Flyers, they're Killing us inside. We just got to do a better job of containing them. So market down at the 19 yard line of Pine View. And then the penalty against Pine View, 15 yarder, actually half the distance to the goal line. That will put it somewhere around the eight and a half yard line. Around the nine and a half yard line, I should say. And that's going to be disgusting for Pine View fans, for Dixie fans. They've got to be loving. This one from the points actually is going to be faced down around the nine yard line and it'll be fourth down coming up. Fourth down and very long yardage. Greg Sampson, who just disgustedly kicked at the football now has to have twin brother Eric stand in his own end zone and more than disgustedly try to put that out of there. 244 left in the third quarter. 27 nothing. Dixie low driving kick. Trying to get it out in a hurry and is getting a Pine View bounce. Just Justin Esplin about to pick it up and realized that was hitting a few rocks in the infield. Down to the 36 yard line. So a great punt by Eric Sampson. I just counted it up. I see a flag on the field right now too, Larry. I'm not sure what that is, but 55 yards and it was just kind of a low driving. Had the right turn on the ball and Esplin decided not to pick it up. And it a big play for us, really got us out of a hole that provided that there is no penalty against Pine View at that point. That's right. Penalty now could really hurt us because it would be tough to duplicate that kind of a punt. Again, it's down to the Dixie 36 yard line. Unsportsmanlike conduct against Pine View. It may be a dead ball foul. Let's see what happens. They're putting it down at the Dixie 36 yard line. Frustration. And it looks like it's going to be a dead ball personal foul. And that's what usually happens in a situation like that. They'll march it be an automatic first down, of course, and the Flyers will have possession. It'll be a 15 yard penalty. So instead of the Dixie 36 yard line, it'll be at the Pine View 49 yard line and suddenly have Dixie on the downhill side of the field. Boy, it's tough. You know, it's. And the defense has been out there much too long. It's tough to contain an offense like the Flyers are displaying tonight, let alone giving them this of kind of field position. First quarter, Pine View able to keep Dixie in control, then gave up a touchdown, then took control again to at least some degree. But slowly but surely, Dixie has been taking more control of the ball game. And off goes to Ryan Anderson. Anderson Inside the 45 down near the 44 yard line. There on the tackle once again is Ryan Johnson look good. That's where an Anderson now in this stage of the game will really be effective. I'm sure we did sit run the ball much in the first half, but in watching him over the years, even in his freshman and sophomore year, he doesn't fumble the ball very much. Does a great job of running the ball and I'm sure Coach Odette's going to put the ball in his hands, eliminate turnovers, kill the clock and just proceed to take his 27 to nothing lead into the end of this game. Timeout called by Dixie trying to map the strategy. With a minute 54 left in the third quarter of play, it's 27 nothing Flyers over the Panthers. The CCSBA. Okay, and South Sevier Lee, 14 to 13 Canal. And they have three minutes left to go. Three minutes left in the game over there. Okay, so it looks like Cadaves making a run back to try to get a win with South Sevier still with the lead. A minute 54 left in the third quarter of play. Second down, four and a half yards to go. Almost five at the Pineview 44 yard line. High formation, wide receivers on each side for Dixie. Dixie with a 27 nothing. Very healthy lead. Thank you. Micah Deckard fumble on the play. Scramble after the football. Does Pine View get it? Ryan Anderson suddenly died, dived after it. It's squirted out of there. Squirted through the hands of quarterback Brian Hickman. Right there was Greg Sampson, but also right there was Ryan Anderson. And I think Ryan just took it from him as he reached in there. Sampson was just getting ready to pounce on the ball and Ryan just basically said that's my loaf of bread and would have been a big play for the Panthers. Of course, like we've mentioned, the Flyers have really owned those teams this half and that would have been a good turnover for us to try to get some momentum back and at least get a touchdown on the board for the third quarters over. Clear back to the Dixie 49 yard line. Third down and 12 coming up for the Flyers. A lot of quickness shown by Ryan Anderson. When you're talking about quick, it gets quick. Greg Sampson back there to pass is Brian Hickman throwing deep to the outside, Eric. Greg Sampson knocks the pass away. Intended out there for Micah Deckard. Deckard had it in his sights, off his hands and Greg Sampson knocked it away. And it looks like we have a foot cramp. A leg cramp by Micah Decker, I believe. So he went down and I'm glad that that's what it was. I thought that it could have been, you know, one time sometimes when a kid jumps up in the air like that, comes down, twisted an ankle or even a knee and. Yeah, you're right, I think he just came down and cramped up. It's good to see Deckard back up on his feet. That was amazing. Deckard, you could tell, had that in his sights all the way. Even with Greg's Samson flapping at it. And Sampson deflected it. Well, that's right. And Greg went high to deflect the ball. You know, he's, they're only, he's only, I think five, eight and that stretch, well, that's, that's with high heel shoes on. But he got high in the air to be able to knock that ball down. Makes you round up boots, huh? Yeah. Back to front is Mike Grove. Fourth down, 12 yards to grow to go. And Grove puts it down to Eric Sampson. Takes it at the 17 yard line. Up the sidelines at the 20. The 27 down near the 28 yard line. So the punt by Mike Grove, not a bad punt. Eric Sampson gets a little better field position for Pine View. And now with 50 seconds left in the third quarter, it's time for Pine View to get something started. Well, that's for sure, Larry. And I think our defense did a great job there. Of course, forced the fumble on the one situation and force them to punt the ball. Our defense has been on the field much too long. We've got to try to mount a drive here. 50 seconds left in the third quarter. First down and 10. Put it at the pine view 29 yard line. Not bad field position. One setback draw plate goes to Eric Sampson. He's going to get back to the liners scrimmage and that is it. The hero for Dixie on the tackle is number 31 who I don't have listed. It must be Ryan Robeson in there someplace. Look like in 31 in there and I did not see one but it is Ryan Robeson instead. Robison gain? No gain. Well, gain of almost a yard on the play, not quite to the 30 yard line. So Eric Sampson, given a little bit of the benefit of the doubt, just short of the 32nd down and a long nine yards coming up to the right side. And that's the way the first half is going to end with two receivers coming to the right side or I should say the third quarter is going to end. Third quarter 27 to nothing. Dixie out in front of Pineview. Let's take a night or 62nd break. We'll be back for more action on your Panthers Sports connection.
