Now, man at second and third, MacArthur comes in with a 41 record. His strikeout to walk ratio, so. So he'll swing quickly to the team that jumps out of the box and scores first or makes the big defensive play to cut off a run first. Going to be an interesting matchup. Aaron McArthur, who earned that number four position in the starting rotation. Aaron McArthur will be on the mound for Dixie, and he's going to be called upon to overcome a good hitting Arizona Western ball club. For Arizona Western, Chris Gorell will be the pitcher. And Gorell on the year has only pitched in four games though, and his earned run average is 2.07. So a minuscule earned run average. Going into this season, he was considered the number one starter for Arizona Western. A young man from Las Vegas, Nevada, injured his elbow or injured his. Yeah, it was his elbow, wasn't it, in March. And really this is apparently his first start since mid March. And so he's fresh, there's no question about that. But he may still be trying to overcome the wound. Yeah, he may take some time to get back into the swing and then again he may not. If he can come out right out of the box and establish himself, it may be another long afternoon for Dixie. We'll have to see on that. Right now it's down to one loss and you're out. And each team has one loss and that's going to be the difference Right now, can Dixie come up with a victory this time or can Arizona Western once again the toss of the coin? And once again, Gordon Jolly has not had a chance to call this at all during the tournament and he's lost the toss each case. Yes, Dixie will be the visiting team again, which is strange because now, three days in a row, or three games in a row, I should say in two days, Dixie has been the visiting team in their own ballpark. Yesterday they won being the visiting team and in the third base coaching box. Now, earlier in the Region 18 tournament, they always got to stay in their own first base. I say coaching box, their first base dugout. They got to stay in their normal first base dugout. Yesterday was the only time they had to switch dugouts because Arizona Western was already established on the first base side. That one ended up as a victory for Dixie. This time they go back to the normal situation. Dugout wise, Dixie's a visiting team and Arizona Western wins. Now the question is, how is it going to flip flop the rest of the way? Chris Correll on the mound is going to be a Challenge for Dixie. I think it's going to be anybody's guess. One thing I've noticed here, Larry, is our grounds crew has done another outstanding, another stellar job here. The field, even after this morning's game, is in beautiful shape. There's very little wind here in the ballpark. The flags are dead in right center field. And so as it was with this morning, no wind aided home runs in this afternoon game, unless the wind picks up quite a bit. Digsy only getting one run batted. Correction. They did get three runs batted in, but it was not until late in the ball game, Skeeter Ellison, Brad Thorne walked with the bases loaded to get RBIs. Justin Garrett got a hit. RBI. Out of 14 runs in the ball game in that first game between the two teams, only one was earned and that one was without an RBI on a double play ball. Dixie to lead off changes in the Arizona Western lineup. Well, Brad Benson has gone in as the designated hitter and you drop everybody down a notch. Jeff Oisington will be a pinch hitter if needed and Clapp will be the pinch runner if needed for the catcher. But everybody else stays at their defensive position. So there's a good position situation for Eric. Arizona Western now, Dixie back to their original starting lineup. And Buggy Sudbury, who had one of his worst games of his career in that first game today, will be batting second and playing third base again. So let's see if he can overcome that. Sometimes the difference in a doubleheader is miraculous from one to the other. Craig Peterson one for two in that first game. The pitch call. Strike at the knees. Chris Correll on the mound. So Peterson, Sudbury, Parker, Shepherd, Cloward, Tuttle, Ellison, Thorne, Garrett, their appropriate positions, the same batting order. Pitch outside. Ball one. One. One count. Juan Navarro will go all the way behind the plate a la Brad Thorne. So Ironman performances by the catchers Breaking pitch way outside. One of the questions is how long will Gorel's arm last? This is a good test. You have a young man who looked to be the ace of your staff. Give him a good shot here. You still have some pitching left. Garel to the plate. Fastball call. Strike at the knee. Well, he has good control of that fastball. Paints the inside corner twice. Now Craig Peterson is behind in the count, two and two. That sounds strange, but he is behind in the count two to two. The third base umpire going over and apparently there's something with the mount. Or is he talking to the pitcher? He's talking with the pitcher about something. I'm not sure what Garel is doing over there, but he's giving him some sort of instruction. Might have been something about the way he goes to his mouth on the mound or something like that. You don't know yet. Two, two count. The pitch. Checking the baseball. He didn't really take a look at it. He asked for the baseball, but really didn't take much of a look at it. So the pitch in the dirt. Three, two count. And this is the way that first game began. Rosario Ortiz was just overpowering, just flat overpowering in that first game. Game number two, Dixie versus Arizona Western pitch hit right up the middle. Navarro smothers it behind second base, throws. No, he doesn't. He hangs on to it. So base hit on the infield. Good range by Luis Navarro. But Craig Peterson has the base hit. And Peterson, who's been in a little bit of a hitting slump, starting to get the bat on the ball a little more. He hit that one right back through the box. And that's what you want to do. You want to hit it right back through the middle if you can, preferably on a line drive, but this one on the ground, right back through the box and had enough juice on it to get deep in the hole. Navarro made the play, but couldn't make the throw. Gorel with the leadoff batter on by way of the base hit. Scott Sudbury, right handed inning, third baseman at the plate. Into the stretch. Goral comes to the plate. Fastball up high. Sudbury, you could tell it right now as he walked to the plate, looks like not only a very humbled ballplayer, he's a good young man, solid young man. Pitch swung on and missed strike one. Up in the strike zone and not catching up with the fastball. Sudbury looks like he has been through the wars right now emotionally. And no question about it being pinch hit for one of the top hitters on the team and the only returning full time starter. Really struggled in that first game. One, one pitch. Fastball lifted in the air. Foul over behind first base. Munoz. Billy Munoz giving it quite a run, but run out of territory. So 1, 2 count to Sudbury. Sudbury hit.500 in that last series in the Region 18 championship and scored 10 runs. The thing Buggy has to do now is take a step back and take stock of himself and realize he is a good baseball player. He had a bad game, everybody has a bad game. Have faith in himself, go back to doing the things that he did before to make himself successful and he'll have a good day. A little bit of an overcast, little high Thin cloudiness makes it almost excessively bright on the field. Gorell to the plate. Ball fouled off. It's a good fastball about knee high in Sudbury. What he needs is a good resounding double. See if he breaks out of the. Out of the slump. The doubles leader for Dixie. 17 of them on the air. Gorel into the stretch. Peterson over at first off of the first pitch, outside ball two. Gorilla does have a good lively fastball. Not quite as as quick to the plate as was that of Ortiz, but it is a good, lively fastball. It gets there. Juan Navarro becoming a very impressive catcher the more I watch him for Arizona Western. The pitch. Breaking pitch inside ball three. Three, two count to Sudbury. Going to start Peterson here. Gordon Jolly would not be above that. Craig Peterson, even with the wounded wheels, has been running fairly well, covering a lot of center field. Three, two pitch. Nope, fake the pitch. Fouled straight back to us. Count holds. 3 balls, 2 strikes. Sudbury held off a good pitch and he's making Gorell work. Brad Parker waiting on deck. Then Cale Shepard, who really was in a slump. Also. Shepard having one of his worst days, worst games with an error and three strikeouts in that first game. There goes Peterson. The pitch top towards the shortstop. Good pitch by Navarro. Pulls the runner off the bag. And trying to head to third is Peterson. A throw by Munoz. Peterson is in. Great diving stop by Griffith. So an error by Navarro and Sudbury has to say, phew, at last somebody does it to me. So Sudbury reaches on the error. And the way Arizona Western threw the ball around there in the infield that time, they kind of looked like Dixie did in that one horrendous inning, that one disastrous inning in the last game. Arizona Western looking masterful defensively till late in the last ball game. And they helped give Dixie some runs back. And Navarro with his second error of the afternoon. And so a man on a man on by way of an error that makes two men at the corners. And Brad Parker coming to the plate. And Parker, who was hit once, walked three times, they have to pitch to him. Gorel to the plate. Big breaking pitch. Up and in. Ball one. Gorel doesn't seem to be right on top of his curveball yet. It's not breaking nearly as much as I think he'd like it to break. Diggsy had a real struggle against Southern Idaho in the Region 18 championship. More on that fastball hit right up in the air. Coming back is Navarro, has a shot at it. Juan Navarro behind the plate, gets the foul out. Juan Navarro, good looking catcher One of the things I like about him is he is not flashy but very effective. He has a good arm. He, he judged that perfectly. He didn't turn around and come running back to the screen. He turned around and waited for the backspin to come back to him, judged it and then got under it. KL Sheppard, Although you don't have necessarily a high sky, you do have a lot of wide up there and that's another problem. You either have a lot of blue or a lot of white. Fastball hit towards left field, slicing. That one's going to dump a base hit. It runs in. Moving on to second base is Sudbury. So Shepard fights off the pitch, singles to left field. His 17th run batted in. A postseason play. And home is Craig Peterson. Once again, Dixie has a one nothing lead. On at second base is Sudbury. One man out and Wyatt Cloward to the play. Cloud, who really struggled in that first game, eventually got a solid base hit in his last at bat against Scott Heather. Dixie. The history last time Dixie against Snow College. After losing to College of Southern Idaho, suddenly the bats came alive. Fastball hit foul down that right field line and Dixie exploded against Snow. Recall. Yes, I do recall. And I was going to say, you can tell that Dixie is already going to is swinging the bat a little bit better than they swung the bat against Ortiz in that first game. They're getting on the ball and at least getting a piece of it. Wyatt Cloward at the plate. Only one man out. A run in. Fastball hit right up the middle. Buggy. Sudbury with a chance to score from third. Here comes the throw to the plate. Sudbury is going to score. Standing up. Base hit and an RBI by CL Dixie jumping on Gorell early. And Gorell has given up 1 earned run on a 2.07 earned run average on the year. He is solid pitcher but getting his first work. Troy Tuttle coming to the plate. Still only one man out. Shepherd had to hold on at second base. Good throw from the center fielder, Dornfeld. Well, these outfielders have great arms, don't they? Good defensive outfield for Arizona Western. A pitch to Tuttle. Up and out with a fastball. Ball one. Dixie would like to give a little bit of a cushion to MacArthur as he goes to the plate. This will be a nine inning game no matter what. No matter what the score. No. 10 run rule, no 8 run rule. After 7 innings, nothing pitch fouled off down the first baseline. It's a one one count. Munoz given it a run. Once again, runs out of territory. A lot of foul territory. And that has helped the pitchers a little bit. But even at that we have not seen all that much that wouldn't have been caught at Elks Field. Baseball got tossed in for the umpire. I love, I love the world in stride. Great stage presence by the umpire as he turned and walked towards the baseball. Half the show at a baseball game is the umpire. Garel to the plate. Breaking pitch up and in to one count to Troy Tuttle. Only one man out. Skeeter Ellison waiting on deck. He has yet to throw that breaking ball for a called strike. Isn't that right? I don't recall it. I don't. I haven't seen it. Two, one count to Troy Tuttle. Fastball high fastball lifted into the air, right infield fly called. And coming in is Griffin right on the mound. So the infield fly and Griffin gets it. Two men out and Skeeter Ellison coming to the plate. Ellison began the scoring against Lamar with a solo home run. Began an inning with a solo home run yesterday. That was the second run scored by Dixie. Let off the first game against Arizona Western yesterday with a two run home run. Well, these two pop foul outs or these two pop fly outs, I should say are a good indication that Gorell's fastball is rising very well because they're getting under the ball. Foul strike on the first fastball. So Gorel getting the strike to Skeeter Ellison. Ellison trying to measure the strike zone on the new umpire as they rotate for this one fastball up and away. Ball one one one count. Skeeter Ellison, good looking hitter. Finally got a base hit. He had one base hit in that last ball game. Walked with the bases loaded, so got an rbi. One one count to Ellison. Fastball away. Ball two, two, one count to Ellison. Brad Thorne waiting on deck for Dixie High fans. Last report we heard, Carbon had taken a 4 to 3 lead over the Flyers. If Dixie High loses that, they turn around and play at 4 o'. Clock. The pitch up and in. Ball three, three one count to Skeeter Ellison. Three one count. You're gonna see a good pitch here. I think with three and one count you don't want to go full count. The base is loaded because then you do start the runner. So maybe they'll start here. Two runs in three one count. Does everybody run? No fastball call. Strike two. Just painted that corner. Ellison didn't go for it. So now we wind everybody up and away they go. Skeeter Ellison. Three two count. Dixie has two runs in in the top of the first inning, breaking serve against Arizona Western and this the championship game. Everybody goes. Ground ball hit towards the shortstop. Navarro has to charge and throw to first. Good throw, right on the money. Munoz, good stretch and that's it. So in that inning, two runs on a total of three base hits, an error and two men left on base. And at the end of one half inning of play, Dixie has a two nothing lead. Matt Dornfeld will lead off play center field and Luis Navarro a shortstop. Octavio Sandoval is the number three hitter. Playing left field or playing right field, I should say. The first baseman is Billy Munoz. Batting fifth is the designated hitter, Brad Benson. Juan Navarro catching, drops to six. Van Griffin drops to seven, plays third base. Justin Crisafoli is the left fielder batting eighth and the number nine hitter. As usual, Ted Gonzalez the second baseman. So Dornfeld to lead things off right handed. Hitting center fielder Dixie with a 2 nothing lead. Arizona Western with some momentum, but Dixie has taken the early lead. Breaking pitch. Fouled straight back on a fake bunt. Actually tried to bunt. That's why he fouled it back. Strike one. Buggy. Sudbury down at third base in Arizona Western is going to challenge Sudbury's confidence immediately. Well, that's a good move actually. Strategically speaking. They're going to try and see if they can shake him up a little bit again. Back at third base, the next pitch. Breaking pitch, hit hard to center field. Craig Peterson on the run. Grabs the line drive. Boy, has he covered ground today. Larry Peterson has done an outstanding job. So line drive to the center fielder. One man out. And Luis Navarro coming to the plate. Navarro in that first ball game went 0 for 4. Had a base hit yesterday. Nice little ground ball. Base hit yesterday against Dixie. So he is 1 for 8 against Dixie. Pitching one man out, bottom of the first inning. Pitch. Misses outside. Ball one. Aaron MacArthur doesn't really throw that hard, but has enough zip on the fastball to mix it in with his breaking stuff. Throws a knuckleball periodically. Breaking pitch up high. Ball two. MacArthur half has to keep it down sometimes to win. I say that's his best pitching situation. If he gets it up and gets a lot of fly balls, he's been able to go through ball games with a lot of fly ball outs. Pitch way outside. Ball three. So with one man out, suddenly three wide ones doing Luis Navarro well. He's trying to work the corner and so far he hasn't hit it. District one championship Western District. Four straight pitches. Ball four. So Navarro is on and here comes Octavio Sandoval. Nine errors, did I count that right? Nine errors that Sandoval has been involved in as a hitter. He hits it and people suddenly get vapor lock and things happen that normal defensive stars do not like to have happen. So his on base average is outstanding and his batting average suffers actually.391. With all of those errors you could imagine what he's hitting. The pitch fake the bunt called strike on that outside corner. So MacArthur trying to work the other corner against the right handed hitting Sandoval. He's having success hitting the corners against the right handers and not so much against the left hander. MacArthur has a pretty good move to first base. Most of the right handed pitchers for Dixie, especially Garf and Lambert, and to the second level. MacArthur have good moves to first base. MacArthur doing a little digging there in front of the rubber, wanting to get a good toehold. Big lead by Navarro. Pitch. Little rising fastball. Ball one up and in. Munoz waiting on deck. Arizona Western poised to come after Dixie. But Dixie has grabbed the first lead, two to nothing. We are on the bottom of the first. One out, one on to the plate. Little sinker, ball two. MacArthur pitched very well until Rick suddenly got single Sapphire in the sixth inning in next to the last game, the pitch down low. Dixie held on for the victory. Three one count. So MacArthur. The one thing MacArthur cannot afford to do is to get wild. He is not an Ortiz type of pitcher where he can Come back and just blow you away with the fastball. MacArthur has to have the control in order to be effective. 3, 1 pitch coming up to Sandoval. The pitch fouled off the catcher's mitt. Strike two. Thorne reached for that and suddenly was looked down at his glove and squeezed it once again. There was no baseball there. That one fouled off the edge of the glove. Waiting on deck is Billy Munoz. MacArthur. Three, two pitch to Sandovalt. He's in the runner. Yes. The pitch hit in the air to right field. Brad Parker charging, charging hard and is going to drop. Base hit. Parker still has a shot at the fourth down. No base hit. Fourth out. Fielder's CH. Rifle arm by Parker as he was hustling all the way and having to hold up midway was Navarro nailed at second base. So a base hit has turned into a force out. Two men out as that one goes nine to six. And talk about an unusual force out. Man on. Two man out. No hit. No hit. Force out. Fielder's choice. Fastball hit on the ground in the hole to left field as Cuttle was pulled way around right where the shortstop would have been. And Munoz hits it on the ground. So a base hit. There's the first hit of the day for Arizona Western. And Brad Parker's arm just now saved a run. So Parker getting the man at second base. Sandoval at second base. Brad Benson, who his first time up yesterday, failed a home run over the left center field fence. Even though he's a left handed hitter, the designated hitter, sometimes catcher. Breaking pitch call. Strike. That one had Benson tied up. Benson could not pull the trigger, expecting that one to come a little faster than it did and not break quite as much. One strike pitch to Brad Benson. MacArthur to the plate. Breaking pitch calls. Strike two. Big overhand curveball and Benson frozen again. 02 count to Benson. Same pitch twice in a row. Starts out over the plate and breaks it down and in Benson's handcuffs and can't do anything with it. That one may have broken a little bit more, covered more of the plate as it went through the strike zone. 02 count to Benson. Two men on. Big curve ball. Just missed the outside corner. Going after that corner. Started way outside. It's ball one. Just missed that outside edge. Trying to tease him a little bit. Three straight curveballs. Now do you bust him inside with a fastball? We'll see where Red Thorn sets up. No, he's setting up outside again. Brad Benson to the plate. Fastball chased and missed off that outside corner. Strike three. So Aaron McArthur, good piece of pitching to get out of the inning. So no runs on one base hit, no errors and a couple of men left at the end of one complete. Dixie has a two nothing lead. As we go into the top of the second inning, we understand Dixie High and Carbon High are tied at five in the sixth inning. Dixie High games will be on KSGIFM, the 99.7 FM. If you're wondering what happened with Dixie High School, that's where they are on 99.7 FM. We're exclusively on 1450am with Dixie College baseball. This is the last home game of the year, no question about it for Dixie College. If they play anything else, it'll be in Grand Junction. Pitch down low to Brad Thorne leading things off. Thorne, Justin Garrett, then Craig Peterson. Dixie. Two runs in that first inning. Once again, the wind is non existent. The flags are limp in right center field. Gorel to the plate. The pitch down low, ball two. Brad Thorne, who walked once in that first game, that walked a couple of times in that first game at the plate. Again, Dixie would like to get something else going against Gorel. The pitch inside, ball three. Just missed. But he's getting closer to that strike zone if that's any consolation. Not when it's 3030 count. Just trying to work on that inside corner. The pitch. That's a fastball for a strike all the way. Finally hit it. Thorne taking Justin Garrett waiting on deck. The sneaky RBI hitter. Garrett seems to get some very timely hits for Dixie. Chris Correll into the wind, up three. One pitch to Brad Thorne. Fastball chased and fouled off the catcher's fingertips. Juan Navarro came bounding up and wants to walk around for a moment, has a commiserating heart from Brad Thorn if he says nothing else. Both of them have been through those knuckle biters. Thorne will step back and take a few minutes and give Navarro some time to shake that sting off. Because Thorne, of course, understands. Foul balls off the fingertips. Ooh. Three, two pitch to Thorne. Grounded towards the first baseman. Munoz gets the big hop and gets it unassisted. So first man up, grounds out to the first baseman. Good job of pitching there by Gorel considering the fact that he went 3 and O to this batter and then came back and got him. Justin Garrett at the plate had an RBI single. And that wild and crazy, but not quite wild and crazy enough. 8th inning where Dixie made a comeback at Arizona Western in game number one. One for three in game number one, had the RBI single. Dixie with a two nothing lead. One man out, Gorel to the plate, breaking pitch, misses outside. Gorell really not getting the breaking pitch across. Almost using it as a setup. And Dixie laying off that curveball. Garrell from Las Vegas, Nevada, a pitch hit in the air and foul down that first baseline. Although Dixie really doesn't have much in the way of ballplayers from Las Vegas this year, in fact, I don't think anybody. KL Sheppard from California is the only out of state player. Dixie has been able to get a lot of ballplayers out of Nevada over the years. Last year they only had one though. Anthony Compton. 11 count to Justin Garrett. Pitch up and away. Ball 2, 2, 1 count to Justin Garrett. Garrell threw a lot of pitches in that first inning, 29 and is being forced to throw a few in this inning too. The pitch fastball hit hard to left center field. The center fielder Dornfeld will not catch up with it. Garrett, with his fourth double of the year, will pull into second base. He drove that ball to left center field. Well, this is the danger, Larry, of not being able to throw the curveball over the plate. If you can't throw the curveball over the plate, you have to come over the plate with the fastball and the hitter can sit on it. And that's exactly what Justin Garrett did just then. One man out, double by Justin Garrett. Dixie looking for some extra base hits. That is their first of this day after ripping the ball in previous games. Now, we mentioned earlier that Dixie exploded against Snow College after being held to just three hits by College of Southern Idaho. The question is, will it happen again? Dixie has four hits now, which matches what they did against Arizona Western. Pitching in game number one. Absolutely. Garel into the stretch, looks at Garrett, back at second base. The pitch to Craig Peterson. Breaking pitch, way outside. Ball one. Peterson got a base hit into center field. Jason Clapp and Paul Johnson. Paul Johnson starting to warm up. He was warming up late in the last ball game. Pitch called, ball misses inside. Little high and just slightly off the plate. Craig Peterson, 20 count, now has the advantage. Peterson starting to come out of his hitting slump. Actually hit the ball pretty well, but right at people during the Region 18 tournament. Pitch, tries to hold up. Call strike. That one seemed to back up that fastball. Catch the inside corner. Talking about a tailing fastball. Garrel has shades of a Don Drysdale wind up the way he throws his arms up and around. But he comes straight overhand pitch line down that third baseline. Ricochets off the wiring by the bullpen. Or there's a. It's a good thing there's a high fence guarding that bullpen because that was headed straight for it. Paul Johnson down there warming up. Might have been surprised. Blindsided by a fine drive otherwise. Well, that's why they do those things. Buggy Sudbury waiting on deck. Dixie with two runs in in the first inning. One run, one man on, one man out here in this, the second inning. The pitch to Peterson. Fastball pull down the first baseline. Foul. So Peterson spraying the ball everywhere and hitting it with a little authority. I played on a high school field in which the bullpens were unprotected and you always had to have somebody down there guarding the pitcher, watching the game and making sure that nothing was hit toward the pitcher who was warming up. A la Wrigley. Yes, exactly. End of the stretch, Girrell looks back at second, wants to pick off Garrett. Back at second in a hurry. Garrett has been picked off of base a couple of times in this series. He's taking no chances now because he doesn't want to kill a rally. Dixie could put together a pretty decent rally as they keep going at this. This is a long ways to go. This is a scheduled nine inning game and how many runs are scored or how many runs that are scored, no matter what. Pitch fouled off rising fastball. And Peterson couldn't afford to not at least take a swing at that one count. Holds two balls, two strikes to Craig Peterson. Left handed hitting center fielder, left handed thrower. And he is put on the show today in center. Some great plays. He's covered a lot of ground. Craig Peterson. And if you watch him walking around in the dugout, everything aches Just watching him walk. He's hurting right now. Breaking pitch lifted into the air to left center field. That one may drop. Hustling in as the center fielder Dornfeld finally catches up with it. It held up long enough where Dornfeld, Crisafoli and the shortstop Luis Navarro all got out there and Dornfeld took charge as a center fielder should. They were lucky not to have a collision back there, though, because all three converged on it for different directions. And sometimes everybody yells, I've got it, at the same time, and you don't hear each other. But if you want, look for an order of things. The outfielder calls off the infielder, he has the better shot at it. Absolutely. The infielder calls off the catcher, he has the better shot at it. And the center fielder calls off everybody. He's the boss out there. Pitch. Call. Strike at the knees to Buggy Sudbury. Sudbury reached on an error his first time up, still without a hit in this district tournament after hitting.500 in the Region 18 tournament. Sudbury looking to try to get off the dime batting wise. One strike count. Pitch up high. Ball one. Brad Parker waiting on deck. Dixie leading to nothing. We're in the top of the second inning. Dixie vs. Arizona Western. No matter what happens, this is for the district championship. Pitch. Swung on and missed. Strike two. That one had a little bit of a wiggle in it. It did, but it was high and out of the strike zone. At least I think it was. Good moving fastball. That one started to sail a little bit. One, two, count to Buggy Sudbury. Sudbury struggling at the plate, needs a good base hit right about now. One, two pitch from Gorrell. Breaking pitch. Almost hit. Sudbury raises the elbows up just enough to allow the curve ball to clear. And Gorel again shakes his head and wonders, why can't I throw the fat of the curveball for a strike? Two, Two count to Buggy. Sudbury looks at Garrett to the plate. The pitch outside. Ball three. First base open. Sudbury has gone to a 3, 2 count again. He's done that twice. So Sudbury, if not effective at the plate at least as a battler, got on last time as the ground ball bothered Navarro and he threw it wide at first base. A 3, 2 pitch to Sudbury. Pitch fouled off the catcher's mask and Navarro shaking his head. That one was a direct hit. Reminds me of that old Judy holiday movie with Dean Martin, wasn't it? Bells are ringing. Great musical. That was as bad as my walk. Three times. Three, two, count to Buggy Sudbury again. Garrett on at second Base. Any hit should score, should score. Garrett breaking pitch. Ball four. Sudbury leans back and another base on ball. So Gorel walks his second batter of the day. So in spite of being wild with a curveball, he has been able to have fairly good control until then. Brad Parker at the plate. Fouled out to the catcher as first time up. Hit it way up in the air and not very far behind the plate. And Navarro made a good play on it. So two men out, two men on. And Gorell faces the number three hitter in the order, Brad Barker. Leading RBI man for Dixie. He had 66 coming into today. Fastball call. Strike. Parker takes that one. So the fastball working.66 runs batted in for the season for Brad Parker. Among the leaders in the nation was early and now starting to creep back in. Among the leaders on at second base, Garrett. Sudbury at first. Parker fastball sinks outside. Ball one One. One count. The Darrell beat. Go ahead. Brad Parker's got a great eye. Brad Parker at the plate. Tatersville High school grad, one year at the University of Utah. Fastball hit in the air, Pop. Foul count goes to one and two. Parker hit.500 in the Region 18 tournament. Coming into today was hitting.398. A correction coming into this tournament, hitting.398 into the best two out of three with Arizona Western. I figured it up through the Lamar game yesterday. So Brad Parker, one, two count. Garell, will he work on that corner? Yes, but it will sail high. Anyway, Navarro was out on the corner instead. Had to reach back over the plate and up two, two count. Now he probably get a pretty good pitch here because again you don't want to go full count. Then you have to come to him. KL Sheppard waiting on deck. It dumped in a single for an RBI his first time up. So Parker, the pitch. Fastball hit in the air once again, popped it up. Coming to the sidelines, Munoz. And Navarro has a shot at it. Munoz gets it and so park twice. Parker has popped out, fouled out this time to the first baseman. So in that inning, no runs, a base hit, the double, no errors and two men left. And Dixie wastes an opportunity to pick up a couple of more runs at the end of an inning and a half. Dixie with a 2 nothing lead back after this timeout. You know a winning team when you see one. Aaron MacArthur will face Juan Navarro to lead off the bottom of the second inning. Two nothing. Dixie Fitch just misses Lowe sinks out of the strike zone. Ball one. Navarro, Ben Griffin, Justin Crisafulli. The FM has Dixie High today. Dixie College on Ksgiam. Breaking pitch, misses off the edge of the plate. Two zero count MacArthur Nibbler as far as a pitcher tries to chew up the corners of the plate with his pitches. Pitch hit down the first baseline. Foul son Navarro trying to go the other way with the pitch outside. 21 count to Juan Navarro. Aaron McArthur likely to throw if he throws shutouts, it ends up as 10 hit shutouts a la the old Luber debt style. Oh yeah, he'll scatter some hits here and scatter some hits there but work himself out of trouble. Two one count to Navarro. Hit on the ground up the middle. Backhanded by Garrett Plants throws, throws. Wild error. So here we go again. The throwing error by Garrett made a good play to go over and get it as it was headed up to middle. And now you give Arizona Western the lead. Give them a shot at it. And it's been the history that Arizona Western pounds the living a lights out of you once they get an opportunity. So Klatt as the defenses have been less than sterling on both sides today, but especially less than sterling on Dixie's side. Pinch runner in for Navarro, the catchers so on. At first base is Jason Klatt. At the plate is Ben Griffin. Griffin hitting the ball very well. Doubled in a run in that first game. Pitch tall strike right at the knees, clad on it first. Leading off by reaching on the error, Mason Fox. Aaron McArthur pitched pretty well now the leadoff error in the bottom of the second inning. Fox really pitched well, gave up eight runs, but all of them unearned. Breaking pitch hit towards the third baseman. Sudbury drops the ball. Will have to get the man at first throw. Is it in time? No, it'll be another error. So Sudbury drops the ball at third base and back to back errors. Sudbury made the strong throw, but not in time. So back to back errors. And Dixie has committed two more. And MacArthur, instead of being with a man at the plate and nobody on and two men out, suddenly there are two men on and nobody out. And coming to the plate is Justin Crucifulli. And you just cannot play with this. It's like teasing a rattlesnake. They bounce. They bite you. They do bite. They do bite. MacArthur. Two men on in at the corners. The infield ground ball backhanded eats up Sudbury. That's going to be a base hit. A run's going to score. It's going to be an unearned run. That one bounced over Sudbury's glove. And now the situation buggy. Sudbury on a play that he would normally get if he were back astride, had to play in just a little bit. And Crucifulli has an RBI unearned run again. And it's a 2:1 ball game and still nobody out. And Ted Gonzalez to the plate. And Sudbury, the man that they're shooting at today, Sudbury having the day to end, all days. And a young man who just does not want to end his career at Dixie College this way. Base hit. That's the second against MacArthur. The pitch butted down the third baseline. MacArthur will throw to first base. The throw on the button. So the sacrifice is there. Men move to third and second. Chrisa Foley to second, Griffin to third. And the sacrifice is. Okay, so one man out, out one to three. Coming to the plate now is Matt Dornfield. And Arizona Western within a run of Dixie. And here comes Arizona Western again. You just cannot give Arizona Western anything. You have to take it away. Only one earned run in this ball game. Also out of three scored. MacArthur to the plate. Breaking pitch, misses outside. Ball one. Dornfeld lined out to the center fielder his first time up. His key right now is to get the ball in the air to the outfield. He gets the run home or get it through the hole in at the corner. Sudbury and Shepherd. The pitch hit hard to Shepherd. Shepherd comes to the plate. The throw. Thorne has his man. The fielders, Joyce men at the corners. Not a bad move for Arizona Western. Knowing the Problems that Dixie's had in the field. Going ahead and sending the runner. Fielder's choice. And out is Griffin coming to the plate. He was out 3 to 2. Moving to third is Crisafulli. And on at first is Dornfield. Chris a full a good piece of base running as he's in at third. Luis Navarro walked his first time up to the plate. Breaking pitch, misses up high. Ball one. Navarro over. Oh, in this ball game. MacArthur trying to get out of this inning. Back at third base is Sudbury. Buggy Sudbury. Really a case of the yips today. Four errors in the two games. The pitch. Breaking pitch, outside. Ball two. Well, if Aaron can get out of this inning, only having given up the one run after the two errors, why, he's. He's done a good piece of pitching. And Chris Correll starting to settle in for Arizona Western. So MacArthur being charged to get as many innings as he possibly can pick off. Over at first base, back in is Dornfeld. Who do you go to next? Do you go to Cody Anderson? Do you come back with a Jeff Garf or Lance Lambert for a couple of innings? Do you go to Robbie Allen again? He pitched it well. And his one inning of pitching in that first game. Pitch misses off the edge of the plate. Ball 3, 3, 0 count. So MacArthur nibbling at the corners and not getting the bite. 3, 1, 3, 0 count to Navarro. Then you have Sandoval, your number three hitter, coming to the plate. MacArthur pitch out and away. Ball 4. Now big problems for Dixie. Dornfeld moves to second. Chrisa Foley stays at third. Navarro at the plate with his second straight walk. And Sandoval. Sandoval, who hit into a fielder's choice, popped the fly ball to right field, and Parker threw out the runner at second. Gordon Jolly waving people around. Sandoval went to right field his last time. Pitch foul to. And that hit something solid. I'm not sure if it hit the umpire or the catcher, but it did hit Thorne in the mask. The umpire's shaking a little bit, too on that one. I think maybe sympathetic pains. Strike one. On the foul tip, Octavio Sandoval. MacArthur to the plate. Breaking pitch, in the dirt. Ball one. Brad Thorne has to be tired. He has worked every inning of all postseason games behind the plate. And the young man has worked so hard. Two gloves out of the hip pockets. That's part of his style. Black glove on the left, red glove on the right. The pitch. Breaking pitch called strike. Little change up off what looked to be a slider almost. Yeah, little cut fastball or maybe a slider. Medallion Mortgage Chris Gorell Right handed pitcher doing a good job on Dixie since that first inning as Dixie scored two in the first and they have been shut out over the next two innings. Arizona Western getting a run in the second and run in the third. Burrell started out, started out first inning through 29 pitches, second inning through 29 pitches, third inning through seven. Skeeter Ellison, Brad Thorn, Justin Garrett at the plate, bottom third of the order. They've been dangerous to pitch inside to Ellison. Ellison. Two home runs in this tournament, five on the year, both of them yesterday. Both of those home runs and all of his home runs have come in the back half of the season. Pitch fastball hit in the air and nine miles high so they aren't getting around on Garel, just right popping it up to the shortstop, Luis Navarro. Well, they all be home runs there if you were playing baseball on a sad hole, but we're not. Brad Thorne at the plate. Thorne crowded out to the first baseman his first time up. So one up, one down. Top of the fourth inning, two two tie Dixie at Arizona Western again. As I said before, the pop flies are an indication that his fastball is rising really well because they're getting under the ball and cutting under it. Pitch misses high. Ball one to Brad Thorne into the wind. Up the pitch called strike. So Thorne one ball one strike. Pineview escaped with a two one win today after losing yesterday to Carbon nine to one. So Pineview still in the hunt on that three A state tournament. Dick Fei with a six five win over Carbon will definitely play for the championship tomorrow. Now pitch down low. Ball two, two one count. They play once more tonight at seven o' clock and you'll hear that one on KSGI AM and fm. So Dixie versus somebody, I'm not sure who. Two one count to Brad Thorn. Fastball hit hard to right field. Back goes the right fielder. Thorne has home run number three Brad Thorne puts a charge into that one, his third home run of the year, second in postseason play. And his power has been coming late too. It's a three to two ball game and Gorel touch for Brad Thorne. And Dixie finally gets the seal off as far as defenses as they hit one out. Brad Thorne makes it a three to two ball game for Dixie. So neither of these teams are going to go down without a fight. Rather quiet, both ball clubs after that emotional first game. Both teams kind of quiet in the dugout, but that that enlivened the rebel dugout. Justin Garrett doubled his first time up. Breaking pitch call strike. Garrett drove one to left center field. So he's got the first extra base hit of the day for Dixie. But he ended up dying at second base. Pitch up high. Ball one, one. One count. Boy, Larry, that that home run was just a shot. There was no doubt about it as soon as he hit it. Imagine Sandoval just kind of drifted back. Ground ball hit hard towards the shortstop. Navarro up, good throw to first base does. And Navarro as that one just hugged the ground. Gets the man at first base. So two up, three up, two down, one in. Craig Peterson at the plate. Popped out to the center fielder, singled his first time up. Good piece of inning in the first inning he stretched it to a 3, 2 count, got the base that he wanted and Peterson came around to score. So he's 1 for 2 today and scored the first run of the ballgame. Top of the fourth inning, Dixie with a run to break the tie. The pitch hit hard to center field. That one may drop another base hit for Peterson. So Peterson hitting a shot to center field as the base hit. So with two outs, Scott Sudbury coming to the plate. Buggy walked, reached on an error and scored. Now Buggy in need of a base hit, in desperate need of a base hit. A base hit would be like a transfusion to Buggy Sudbury's confidence right now, not only at the plate, but in the field. All it has to be is a solid shot someplace. Breaking pitch, misses inside ball one. Tempting. You better believe it. One ball count to Buggy. Sudbury. Sudbury, the power to reach the fences, does have four home runs on the air. Lots of doubles. There goes the runner. The pitch hit towards right field and deep, but foul. That one against the fence. So Sudbury slapping the ball. And that may bend as much confidence for Sudbury knowing that Buggy has a good bat. Gordon Jolly sending the runner on a hit and run with two men out, knowing Sudbury has to concentrate more. Well, the idea if you get him to swing at a pitch that he has to hit, and then that forces the concentration, hopefully just trying to bring Sudbury back as he has been dominating in postseason play until this tournament. Still got a runner in motion and telling Buggy, you need to swing here. That increases the concentration. Another pick off from Peterson standing on the bag. One stride and he's back on the scoreboard. It says, go, Buggy. Great charge. Fakes the bunt. Pick off. Down at first. Peterson dives back in. Good throw by Navarro. The Sudbury pulls the bat back. It's a 21 count. So Gordon Jolly trying to shake up something, trying to stir up the soup, see if he can get all the meat and potatoes on the top so you can see it. 21 count to buggy. Sudbury. Two men out of man on pitch outside, ball three with a fastball that's kind of like the Campbell soup trick of putting all the marbles in the bottom of the dish and then pouring the soup on top for the advertisement. Right? Did they do that? They don't do that, no. Keep everything up on top. Three one pitch to Sudbury. There goes the runner. Breaking pitch called strike two. Peterson is in with a stolen base. So Sudbury couldn't pull the string on a big curveball. But a stolen base by Peterson has him at second base now. Sudbury. Good drive in the gap. Anything to the outfield and he should have a run home. Peterson, even with a with the wounded wheels, has still been covering a lot of territory. Buggy. Sudbury at the plate. 32 pitch. He has gone 32 to Garel three straight times. The pitch to Sudbury. Pitch outside. Ball four. And the second time he is walked. Good discipline by Sudbury. And Brad Parker coming to the plate again with man on base. I'm not so sure, though, that Gordon Jolly was real happy with Buggy there because it looked like a hit and run was on and Buggy didn't swing. And that's. That's a Cardinal fan problem with a curveball, though. I think it surprised him to suddenly get that big curveball. Brad Parker has been to the plate twice. Four runners on base total and has not scored one yet in this ball game. Walked three times. Did I have him in the first game? Yes, three walks when I was hit by a pitch. So he has left stranded four runners in his first two times up fouling out both cases. Fastball hit deep to left field. Brad Parker has number 18. Brad Parker got the fastball he wanted, and that puts quite a charge into Dixie. Three run shot by Brad Parker. Touch them all. That one exploded out of here as Brad Parker has RBIs, number 67, 68 and 69. And that enlivens the crowd. Suddenly all of those quiet people up there are cheering for Dixie. All except the Arizona Western fans. That was just a shot again. That was no doubt about it. Just like Brad Thorne's shot. Soon as he hit it, you knew. Six to two, Dixie with a lead. KL shepherd to the plate. Breaking pitch, misses inside. Ball one. GOREL A little questioning, looks askance. Aaron McArthur had one of those askance looks a little earlier. And now the bats that the hitting that Dixie lacked so sorely in the first game is starting to come around. And they're looking like the club that we saw in the Region 18 tournament after the CSI game. Seven hits in this game, three of them for extra bases. The line doubled by Garrett and now two home runs. One a solo shot by Thorn and the three run dinger by Brad Parker. Gail shepherd at the plate, had an RBI single his first time up and popped out to the shortstop. Pitch outside, ball two. Two. Oh. Count. Griffin had gone into talk with his pitcher, Gorel Gorell, with his first start apparently since mid March. The pitch, Fastball in the dirt, Ball three. And Shepard at risk of being on base. Arizona Western cannot afford to go very far. Alan Manifold, the assistant coach, the pitching coach, coming out to talk with Garell Garel, flips the ball a little bit in his hands. He wants to get a little instruction. Manifold does he usually make the change? Gorell comes off the mound to meet him. Manifold is not signaled for Paul Johnson yet, although they're checking down to see if Johnson is ready. Arizona Western cannot afford to let this one get away. They cannot afford that. Well, there is no tomorrow. You win this one and you don't. You don't go very far at all with the starter or anybody for that matter that's getting shelled because you get too far behind and rally or no rally, you may not catch up. And so if he puts Shepard on, I think he's gone. If they don't pull him. If he puts Shepard on and then they don't pull him, something is wrong. It's going to be interesting now. It's going to go with shepherd at the plate in the 30 count. Here comes the change of pitching. So let's take this timeout. Four runs in in the fourth inning. Two men out. KL Sheppard with a 30 count. Garel will go to the sidelines and Paul Johnson will come in. We'll be back after this Timeout. Hey, sports fan. Earned run average respectable for junior college. 4.3262, 175 pound right hander freshman out of Roseville, Minnesota. Roseville, Minnesota. Wanted to thaw out in Yuma. Boy, can you if you come from Minnesota. Johnson with a solid credentials, but this is his first appearance in postseason. So Johnson getting the call. Paul Johnson the new pitcher. Now if Johnson puts Shepherd on, the walk is charged to go. Is that correct? That is correct because so Shepard belongs to Garel. If he walks. Anything else happens, it belongs to Johnson. So that's the case. Cale Shepard, I believe. Glendale was a Region 1 representative last year, weren't they? Glendale was the champion Trinidad State from Region 9 and Utah Valley from Region 18. Cale shepherd is the one ballplayer that has played in both district tournaments as he was with Utah Valley last year and a transfer to Dixie. Reserve first baseman did not play very much. Hit no home runs last year for Utah Valley. Has 11 this year for Dixie. Shepherd. 30 pitch from Johnson. Ball 4 gets through the catcher. Shepard starting to jog to first base. Run a little bit harder, he'll turn first base, but it's not going to go anywhere. So that one belongs. The base on balls belongs to Gorell. So shepherd belongs to Gorel. Now A man on Wyatt Clower to the plate. RBI single grounded out to the third baseman. So a four spot by the Dixie College Rebels has given the advantage to Dixie who want to play at least two more games. That's what they would be guaranteed in Grand Junction, Colorado. A week from Sunday is the tentative schedule. That's what the preliminary schedule shows. Pitch inside to Wyatt Claud. So Johnson the relief pitcher trying to give some relief and already warm up action for Arizona Western down there. It looks like Chris Sykes down, warming up. Pitched outside. Ball two. Johnson has come in and thrown three straight balls. Now it becomes Dixie's charge to hold off Arizona Western. This is a long ways to go. It's a six to two ball game. You're on the top of the fourth inning. Dixie still threatening. But this is scheduled a nine inning game no matter what. The pitch. Breaking pitch misses down low. Ball three. And given Arizona Westerns bats and the shakiness of the Dixie fielding in the first game. You never know. You want to get all you can right now. Six two, ballgame. Dixie with the lead. Three zero count to Clower. Do you think he's taking? I'd take. He hasn't thrown a strike yet. Johnson making throw a strike before anything happens. The pitch to Cloward called strike on that outside corner. Barely a strike. Troy Tuttle waiting on deck. Dixie with four big runs here in this inning. Three of them on the home run by Brad Parker. There goes the runner. The pitch chopped towards the first baseman. Munoz will go over and get the man at first base. So Munoz unassisted with the third out to retire the side. But in that inning, four big runs on three huge hits. Two of them out of the park. No errors and a man left. And at the end of three and a half innings of play, we go to the bottom of the fourth. Dixie with a 6 to 2 lead over Arizona Western. Back after this timeout. It's bigger than ever. It's the 10th sale at the Boulevard Home furnishings going on now through Memorial Day. Aaron MacArthur has a chance to win. To begin the bottom of the fourth inning, Dixie with a 6 to 2 lead. Ted Gonzalez then to the top of the order. Matt Dornfeld, Luis Navarro. MacArthur with a chance to do heroic work. Hall strike on that outside corner. Correll went three and two thirds. Seven hits allowed, six runs, five earned, three walks, 85 pitches. One strike pitch down low. Ball one one one count. Long ways to go. Aaron MacArthur trying to give as much as he can to get Dixie towards that trip to the juco. Dixie has been there before. Fitch hit hard towards the third baseman. Foul. Sudbury over in foul territory. Still looking a little shaken down there. Looking a little like a young man who had his pet beagle's eye. He is not too happy right now. Well, he hasn't had a cherry hop all day. You know, everything has been between, in between hops. The 1, 2 pitch, breaking pitch, 43 foot curveball. That one didn't go very far at all. Well, it bounced three times before it hit Thorne in the mask. So. So the garter trying to nickel and dime with the breaking stuff. Two, two count to Ted Gonzalez. Six to two. Dixie with a lead pitch. Hit right back up the middle towards MacArthur. MacArthur tried to backhand it and it was a case of a hit that had eyes again. And here comes Arizona Western. Matt Dornfield. Dornfield lined out to the center fielder, hit into a fielder's choice. He's 0 for 2 today. He grounded that ball back to Cale Shepard that Shepherd picked up and and gun Griffin down at the plate. So Dornfeld is the man. We got the good one. Good hop that Shepard was looking for. Nobody out. Man on the first base. MacArthur to the plate. Breaking stuff outside. Ball one. Bottom of the fourth inning. This is by any, any means, it just do not. This one's out of the woods until you have the last out. MacArthur to the plate. Fastball at the knee. Strike one. MacArthur just making the adjustment and getting a few of more of those corners now as he's a little closer to the plate, ignipping one a little bit more often. Aaron MacArthur, solid pitcher last year. For the 3A state champion Dixie High Flyers, hoping his team can do it again. Dixie well on the way as they picked up their second win today. They will definitely play tomorrow. No matter what. They will play tomorrow. And I'll be in Spanish Fork tomorrow to help bring that Dixie Flyer game. Breaking pitch in the dirt, gets away from Thorne, but hanging on at first base is Gonzalez. You're down by four. You don't want to run yourself out of an inning. Two, one count. Brad did a good job to keep that one in front of him until he could find it. And he got some good help from the bench. Gordon Jolly right over there yelling at him. Look to your left, look to your left. Two, one count to Dornfield. Nobody out. Bottom of the fourth inning, Arizona Western, the home team for the third straight game against Dixie. Into the stretch, pitch hit hard, right back up through the middle again. And another seeing eye single. 97 bouncer. Peterson dropped it in center field, but going nowhere. So once again, MacArthur getting him to hit right where he wants to, except he's not there to field it. Well, the difficulty is, the problem is that MacArthur's follow through is such that he comes off the mound and falls off to his left and he's not there to field his position. If he came off a straight follow through like he should and is his form as is taught, then he'd be in a position to field his position. He's not there. And the ball goes right up the middle for a single. Again. Luis Navarro has walked twice against MacArthur. Into the corners. Sudbury and Shepard pitch up high. Ball one. And something about the left handed Navarro says to MacArthur, you cannot find the plate. That is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Nine straight pitches that have not found the strike zone against Luis Navarro. Nobody out. Two men on. And Dixie having some struggles again. Bottom of the fourth inning. The advantage is the three run home run by Brad Parker. And apparently the bats are alive and kicking for Dixie. The pitch outside. Ball two, two, zero count to Navarro. There must be a mental block between MacArthur and Navarro. Dixie trying to get the trip to the Juco. It would be their second. They would become the first Utah team ever to go there twice. And the first one since College of Southern Idaho to make two trips, I believe. Well, correction, Treasure Valley may have made two consecutive trips. Ball hit hard towards the second baseman. Garrett to short for one. Tuttle on to first. Good double play. Two men out. And so Navarro grounds into the double play. Garrett and Tuttle and Shepherd. Four, six, three. For the double Play. Moving on to third is Ted Gonzalez. And just what you needed, the ground ball. The pitcher's best friend, the ground ball. Double play. But looking at that double play, it wasn't a smooth flowing double play. Dixie still with a case of nervousness in the field. It looked like stage to stage. Garrett making sure he had the ball, then made the good throw. Tuttle making sure he made the strong throw to first. I guess that is not bad at this point. The pitch to Sandoval. Call strike on the corner. Well, I'd have him do. I'd rather have him do that right now than nonchalant it, you know, and try to be too smooth. That's right fielder's choice of fly out. He's 0 for 2. Sandoval reached three times on an error in that game. Number one and scored every time. Pitch fouled off strike two. Sandoval started the scoring in each of the three scoring innings by reaching on an error in that first game. The third time he was the only man that scored. But that was the scoring. Inning 02 count to Sandoval breaking pitch. Queued off the end of the bat count holds 02 as it goes foul. Aaron MacArthur. This may be a case of give us your best shot sort of thing, but MacArthur keeping working hard. Cody Anderson down, maybe loosening up soon. He's just chasing foul balls right now. Pitch way up high. Ball one. Let's see if he could get Octavio Sandoval to go after something bad and swing at something high and out of the strike zone. If he did get about on it, he'd just pop it up that high. MacArthur into the stretch, looks at third to the plate. Breaking pitch, hit in the air and fairly deep to center field. No, that's going to be that. A little bit shallower than expected. Got under that Moore and there was Craig Peterson third out to retire the side. So in that inning, no runs, a couple of base hits, no errors and a man left. And at the end of four, complete Dixie with a 62 lead. Back after this timeout. We're debate for the brand new generation. When you're banking on the run. Back at Hearst Field, Dixie with a 62 lead over Arizona Western. And it's starting to play more and more into Dixie's hands. As long as MacArthur can go, the more innings he can give, the more choices Gordon Jolly has as he gets to the closing innings as far as who he may use as a pitcher. Absolutely. And the thing is that if he can get down to maybe the seventh or eighth before he has to make a move, then you might see a few short innings from maybe Jeff Garf or Lance Lambert or maybe an inning from each of them and try and shut the door that way. Troy Tuttle. It'll lead off against Paul Johnson. Pitch. Outside, ball one. Johnson working his what he hopes to be his first complete inning. Pitch. Ball one count into the wind, up to the plate. Pitch. Call. Strike on that outside corner. Good humming fastball on that one. It really snapped the mitt. Doesn't, didn't he? Tuttle popped out to the third baseman. Fight out to the center fielder, over to pitch. Chased and missed. That one was a sinking fastball. 12 count followed off his foot. He's taking a walk here, trying to walk that off. Six hits by Arizona Western, but only two runs. Dixie with seven hits and a total of six run. It's a 21 count or 12 count, I should say 12 count to Troy Tuttle. Into the wind, up Johnson to the plate. Breaking pitch. Call. Strike three. Oh, what a bender. That's frightening to be faced with that one. I hear a fan up there yelling, that was horrible. Awful call, but I don't see how in the world you could say that. That pitch was a beautiful pitch. Froze the hitter. And Troy Tuttle could do nothing but stand there and watch it as it sailed over the plate. Great big lollipop. Curveball dropped in there. Sweetness to the pitcher, Skeeter Ellison with one man out. Pitch call. Strike at the knees. Ellison, still looking for his first hit in this ball game, had a tremendous day yesterday. Five runs batted in in the two ball games, but still looking to drive one today. Pitch was not a miss. Fading fastball, 02. Had an RBI in the first game on a bases loaded walk. So six RBIs in this tournament for Ellison. Pitch, breaking pitch, chased and missed and dropped by the catcher, Ellison now is going to take off and it's going to be a strikeout. With a put out to the first baseman. Out two to three, Ellison meekly goes down. So Johnson, who has not pitched in postseason play, looking like hall of Fame material as he struck out the first two batters coming to the plate. Brad Thorne. Thorne grounded out to the first baseman, hit the solo home run to right field. Boy, if this young man is not in the rotation and he's a reliever, if this is what you have for long relief, I know a lot of people like to have him in the starting rotation. Pitch inside, ball one, at least from what we've seen so far, looked a little shaky right at the beginning. Coming in in the fourth inning relieving Garel, but he has settled down here in the fifth. Pitch outside throwing darts and misses with a fastball. Two zero count. Justin Garrett waiting on down. Dixie High with the win today, will play tonight. That will be on AM&FM at 7 o', clock, pitching the dirt. Ball 3, 3o count to Thorne and Justin Garrett waiting on deck. And the minute we say, we talk about how good he is. Then he throws three straight balls. We'll see. Never fails. Dixie trying to get as many innings and as much time with the lead as they possibly can in this ball game. Hopefully for the Rebel fans, they would like to see six to two ballgame right to the end. Maybe even more runs on the top side because Dixie's a visiting team. Six two lead, Dixie out in front. Three zero count to Thorne. Called strike right at the knees. Now Thorne. 3:1 pitch. Thorne has been a fairly intelligent hitter, has had his moments of having great at bats. Pitch outside, ball four and Thorne on at first base. Base on ball, third time in this double header. And out comes Bronson Bills. The word is there when Thorne gets on. Bills comes out. Thorn goes to the bench and starts putting on the catching gear. As we mentioned, that is not an option in championship postseason playoff action in junior college. The catcher gets run for. The pitcher, if he is hitting for himself, gets run for also. Johnson into the stretch, looks at first. Fastball outside to Justin Garrett. Garrett doubled his first time, grounded out last time, one for turn. Garrett good lively bat and he's been getting stronger as the year goes on. Picks his spots and usually gets his timely hits. Pitch fouled off people ducking down behind first base. One one count, two men out, top of the fifth inning. Craig Peterson waiting on deck. Dixie on top of a 62 ballgame. A little different feel in this game for the Rebels than in the first game. A little more confident and the longer they go, the more confident they feel the pitch hit right back up the middle off the glove of Johnson. He's going to have to hustle. Garrett is going to have the infield base hit. So Garrett, a 68 foot base hit. And part of that, that last eight feet was off the pitcher's glove. Bill's on at second base and Garrett has his second hit. And coming to the plate, Craig Peterson. Peterson two for three, a single, a stolen base, a single and a run scored. So two singles. George Whitehead's son Tom is doing the bat boy work today. And George would be has got to be happy that Tom's name is on the air. The famous bat boy, Tom Whitehead, and of course the famous coach, Greg Croshaw doing the loudspeaker announcing today. But Abel is a. Yes, he is absolutely winning as football coach in Dixie College history, engineering an outstanding victory in the Rotary bowl this last year. As Chris Berman would say, Greg, as the Crow Shaw flies absolutely into the stretch. Ball. Johnson, Craig Peterson at the plate. Two men out, two men on Dixie trying to get another run or two or three or four. Pitch up. Ball one. I like your optimism here. Another run or two or three or four dot well, that's what Dixie's hoping for. You know that. Buggy Sudbury waiting on deck six two Dixie with the lead, top of the fifth inning. Johnson to the plate. Pitch down low, ball two. And Johnson suddenly back into a small fit of wildness. Gorell was the original number one pitcher supposed to be. Halverson earned the number one pitching position for Arizona Western as the year went on into the stretch. Breaking pitch in the dirt, gets away. Wild pitch. And the runners move up and it's a 30 count to Peterson. Pass ball. Okay, starting to get a little bit of the syndrome. Pass ball. We've been overruled. We've been overruled. Official score says pass ball. That's a. Everybody moves up 90ft and it's a 30 count to Craig Peterson with Buggy Sudbury waiting on deck. Dixie with a 6 to 2 lead. Top of the fifth inning scheduled nine. It will go nine. No sign of any weather problems. Now Juan Navarro is out with Paul Johnson having a little conference and saying, hey, look, pal, you know, you got to throw the ball over the plate. We can't get out of the inning if you don't warm up action again. It looks like Chris Sykes down there trying to loose up for Eric and loosen up for Arizona Western. And the longer MacArthur goes for Dixie, the better for the Dixie pitching staff, although they still have some arms they have not used, including Cody Anderson, who was in the starting rotation early in the year. The pitch, Fastball at the knees, called strike. Craig Peterson. Three, one count. Two men out, Men at second and third. Bills over a third. Garrett at second. Three one pitch to Peterson. Fastball, chop foul. Now it's a three, two pitch. You'd have the runners going, except first base is open. Buggy Sudbury waiting on deck. Three, two count to Craig Peterson. Peterson, who struggled even when he hit the ball. Well, he hit it at somebody in the Region 18 tournament having a better District 1 tournament. Fastball fouled off. Peterson spoils another one. Fought off. A very good pitch. Top of the fifth inning, Dixie with a 6 to 2 lead over Arizona Western. We'll get probably Tom Larocque again with the voice of Dixie High School tonight. I'm not sure if I could make it to Spanish Fork in time. Pitch fouled off. Foul ball again. Three, two count. No way. I don't think there's any way I can make it to Spanish Fork by seven o' clock tonight to do the Dixie ignition. Not unless you are truly a Dixie Flyer. Wow. It's a little much I think, but we'll take off as soon as possible. We'll be up there for tomorrow's Dixie eye games, but we'll have it on the air tonight. Fastball loop to left field. A base hit, two runs will score. Peterson will have maybe two. He's going to hold up at first base, is hustling down that. That ball was the left fielder, Chris Afoli. The Peterson with two, two RBIs on the single. It's an 8 to 2 lead. And that was just an excuse me single. Kind of stuck his bat out there hoping to fight off another good pitch and made some contact and looped it down the left field line. Good piece of hitting by Greg Peterson. Yep. Two men out, two more runs in. These two belong to Paul Johnson. And Dixie with an 8 to 2 lead and there is no 10 run rule. Normally during regular season if you're playing a nine inning game into the stretch, Johnson comes to the play. Breaking pitch, Mrs. Ball one sunk just as it got to the plate. The ball thrown away into the outfield. Craig Peterson is going to try for second base. Peterson will have it. And the error on the catcher. He on the catcher. And so once again, some. This has not been the most gracefully played game by two teams who are pretty good defensive ball clubs and it's got to be part and parcel, including the tension, because it's now backed against the wall for both teams. Yes, and it's got to be heartening to Dixie College to see that the number six team in the nation throws the ball around a little bit too. Sudbury 10 count. The pitch to the plate. Fastball foul tipped into the catcher's mid strike one. Buggy Sudbury walked twice, reached on an error, scored his only time or his first time up one One count to Buggy Sudbury. Craig Peterson two run single, now on a second base by way of the throwing error. Big breaking pitch inside, ball two. And if you get Sudbury on, you have Brad Parker, who parked one over the left field fence his last time up. Fourth home run in postseason play. Three of them last week, one this week. Peterson on at second base. Johnson to the plate. Pitch outside, ball three. Peterson just enough of a distraction to Johnson that Johnson is not concentrating enough on the plate. And you don't want to face Parker with two men on here and two out. So Buggy's gonna get something to hit here. Peterson not doing a whole bunch as far as kicking up dust or anything at second base. Just getting a good lead. Employs three. One pitch to Buggy Sudbury. The pitch outside gets away from the catcher. Ball four. And Navarro hustling after the ball. So three straight bases on balls to Buggy Sudbury. Seems like we've seen this movie before here. Indeed we have. I think I failed to color in the fact that usually on the score book, you kind of color in those runs of scored. And I didn't get all of them last time. Sudbury has scored two runs and scored two runs. Brad Parker at the plate. It's an 8 to 2 lead. Dixie. Brad Parker fouled out to the catcher, fouled out to the first baseman. Then when he got the pitch he wanted, he fouled up a catch pitcher's pretty good pitch and hit her over the left field fence. A shot last time. A three run home run. Eight to two. Dixie with the lead. Johnson looks at second, comes to the plate, throws it right to the backstop. Wild pitch. No pass ball on that one. None of that jazz. And the wild pitch gets the runners along. Well, that was heading right, heading right for the broadcast booth here, Larry, loosely referred to. Yes. It's not kind of a. It's not really a booth. It's kind of like a broadcast corridor, you know. That's true. So the wild pitch moves the runners along. Man at second and third. And ball one to Brad Parker. And the walk by Allen Manifold is out there again. Chris Sykes getting warm in the bullpen. That decision's made. And this time the runner, the batter, no matter what, Parker will belong to Chris Sykes. So with two men out, men on it, second and third and a one ball count on Brad Parker, Chris Sykes comes in. Chris Sykes, relief pitcher is two and one on the year. Right handed pitcher from Willowick, Ohio. You're talking about Americana name. Willowick, Ohio, I love that name. Sykes on the year earned run average keeps getting a little higher. 6.48 earned run average, 2:1 on the year. This is his 14th appearance. Strikeout to walk ratio, 39 walks, 37 strikeouts. Has given up four home run runs this year. That's what it says so about Havers as far as strikeout to walk ratio for Johnson. That's it. Oh, we have this break. I was handed this yesterday and we've talked about it a little bit. The Polynesian Club is having a luau. The Gardener center tomorrow evening at 6:30. Tickets are $8 and I guess you can get them over at the Gardener center in advance or $9 at the dance or at the door or you can if you know somebody in the Polynesian Club, grab them. You can get it for eight bucks. Yeah, I'll tell you what, are you ready with this? It comes with a scrumptious buffet and a terrific program with authentic island dance and costume. And when they say scrumptious buffet, they're not kidding. They roast a pig and they do a few other things and tasty, tasty meal. Go hungry. Yes, and ready to be entertained. That's tomorrow night, 6:30, the Polynesian corner. All of the guys and gals involved with Dixie College there. So Chris Sykes in and right now it looks like the blink has been made by Arizona Western as far as pitching staff goes as they stare eye to eye. And Chris Sykes, the third pitcher of the afternoon for Arizona Western for Paul Johnson. Johnson came in, promptly threw ball four to Cale Shepard and then has gone 2/3 of an inning here. So he's gone one complete inning and Chris Sykes comes in. Brad Parker greeted a new pitcher in the Region 18 tournament with a two run home run over the right center field fence. He went the other way on that one. Parker one for three in this ball game, over one in the first ball game. But he was walked three times and hit by a pitcher. First base is open. Do you walk him and pitch to Shepherd? Although Shepard has an RBI single and has 17 runs batted in in postseason play. So which poison do you want to Face Sykes to Parker. The pitch outside. Ball one. Sykes throwing a little bit of heat or ball two, I should say two zero count. This batter belongs to Sykes. But the first ball in the count was delivered by Paul Johnson. If it was a two ball count when he came in, a walk would be belong to Johnson. Sinking fastball swung on, a missed strike one. Peterson and Sudbury of course still belong to Johnson and they're on second and third. Craig Peterson, the two run single in this inning has made it an 8 to 2 advantage. We're in the top of the fifth inning, nine inning ball game for a trip to the Junior College World Series. Sykes into the wind up fastball lifted into the air and foul. That was out of the strike zone a little bit low. So a 22 count to Brad Parker with two men out. He has a real interesting motion. He really rocks back there deep before he comes back with the with the pitch. Straight overhand and he brings the pitch down so he's going to be pitching in the bottom part of the breaking pitch chopped towards the shortstop. Buggy Sudbury trying to distract the shortstop to throw in time he do not get the run home. Parker grounds out to the shortstop, but in that inning, two runs on one, two base hits, an error and two men left. And at the end of four and a half innings of play, Dixie has an eight to two lead over Arizona Western. Located in the Westwind Plaza in Hurricane Six Three Five Rose in southern Utah, this is the sports leader, KSGiamnFM St. George. Billy Munoz the lead off the bottom of the fifth inning. Dixie with an 82 lead and Aaron MacArthur trying to do a little surgery on the plate and throws outside ball one. Munoz has a single to left, a single to right. He's gone both directions. Scored the second run for Arizona Western. So Munoz 2 for 2 in this ball game and Brad Benson then Juan Navarro breaking digit in the air and pretty deep to center field. Back goes Craig Peterson back to near the warning track. Peterson is going to play it off the wall, so Munoz is going to have at least two is going to hold up as Peterson fields that one. Munoz hits it deep off the center field fence. So a leadoff double and munoz Loving Aaron McArthur's delivery so far. Serves one left, serves one right, serves one center and deep. Brad Benson coming to the plate. Benson struck out, doubled homer run his last time up. Hit it to right center field. Benson pulled. McArthur and Benson with a home run in this series. Already swung on and missed. Fading fastball, that one tailed outside and missed by Benson. One strike count. There you go, Paul McCarthy. Sorry about that. I had you out. I didn't mean to do that. MacArthur's had success with Benson with two pitches in this ball game. That was one of them. A curveball inside in on the hands and then the fading fastball out on the outside corner. He struck him out on those types of pitches the first time around. 11 count to Brad Benson. Man on at second base, nobody out, bottom of the fifth inning. MacArthur needs to get through this inning to be in line for the victory. Infield back all the way around. They'll give up a base for the out. Pitch called strike on that outside corner. And that was the fading fastball again that Benson has had no luck hitting so far. The one pitch that he hit real well was a straight fastball out over the plate. I don't think Aaron's gonna give him that again if he can help it. MacArthur with one strikeout. And this is it. Benson, the pitch. Breaking pitch, chased and fouled. Just fought off that curveball as it was sinking into the dirt. Benson chased that one enough that he had to hang on to and get it into the. Into get something on it in order to keep alive. One, two count to Benson. Munoz with the leadoff double. Bottom of the fifth inning, he's in at second base. The pitch to Benson. Swung on, a miss. Strike three. Took a little something off the fastball and have moved in on the fifth. One man out. MacArthur with a second strikeout. He's had better success with Benson, at least alternately, than anyone else. Two strikeouts. And Benson's helped him to both of them. So Juan Navarro reached on an error, grounded out to the third baseman. The error was on the second baseman. So he's over two. Did score a run. Scored the first run of the ball game. Juan Navarro, sometimes third baseman, mostly catcher. Big overhand curve.
