Sudbury with a ricochet off the left field fence. Parker has at least a stand up double and Sudbury's home. So Brad Parker an RBI double as he ripped that one off the left field fence. And Sudbury is home. And it's a one nothing lead for Dixie. And Parker, who went quietly into the Sunday night against St. Louis. Merrimack has the hot bat now. Two doubles in two days, plus the home run. KL Sheppard, 1 for 6. Yesterday the goatee went. Today the pitch breaking pitch, misses ball one. Three strikes thrown by Henneman. One hit on the ground of the shortstop. One hit foul and one hit off the left field wall. One zero pitch hit hard to left field and gate. K.L. sheppard is going to hit it. One bounce off the fence. Parker's going to score. Shepard may have a chance for three. No, he'll pull in with a double. So KL Sheppard will keep the chin clean. Back to back RBI doubles. And Dixie leads two to nothing and the Rebels as Shepard goes the opposite way with a pitch outside and rips it to left field. Wyatt Cloud, who walked twice the part of the reason it was frustrating took a called third strike with the bases loaded and one man out in the sixth inning yesterday. The question is Cloward, who got the first base hit off of St. Louis. Merrimack on Sunday takes a pitch up and in ball one. No warm up action yet for St. Louis. Down two nothing right off the bat as Dixie's jumping on Hanneman early. The pitch called strike. And that's the first called strike that Hanneman has gotten. First time he's thrown it by a hitter. Shepherd on at second base. One man out, two runs in top of the first inning. Breaking pitch. Way out in front is Cloward. One two count, but it gets away from the catcher onto third base. So a pass ball and Shepard as the catcher for St. Louis. Jason Shepard got a little lackadaisical that you go as a pass ball and Shepard now at third. Wyatt Cloud, if he can get it to the outfield, will get a run home. The pitch behind him almost hit him. Two, two count. As far as postseason play goes. Wyatt Cloward the leader, being hit by a pitch. He's been dinged five times. Dixie batters have been hit eight times and five of the times it's been clouded with a bruise. Two, two Pitch coming up to Wyatt Cloward. The pitch hit on the ground to the third baseman shepherd coming home. Third baseman Lefebvre throws him out, but Cloward gets the RBI and it's a three nothing lead. So the pass ball key and Cloward out five to three, but has the rbi, two men out and Troy Tuttle coming to the plate. So Cloward hit it wide of third base and gets the man home. Troy Tuttle yesterday ended up with two base hits. Won a key base hit in that 10th inning to then become the potential winning run. And that potential turned into truth as he was the man that slid across the base to get the 11th and final run of the day for Dixie. Ball one, Detroit Tuttle. Skeeter Ellison waiting on deck. Tuttle pitch up, ball two, Two. Oh, count. So Dixie came with their hitting shoes on. The question is, will the gloves match? 3 Nothing Dixie with a lead. Top of the first inning. Hanneman into the wind, up to the plate. Fastball called, strike two. One, Detroit Tuttle, Ellison waiting on deck. Skeeter having a terrible day yesterday. Until the hit. The pitch chopped foul towards Gordon. Jolly up and over his head. No chance for the offensive lineman to make the great play at third base. Beyond third base, I should say. So it's a two two count, Detroit Tuttle. Mike Hanneman into the windup with two men out. Top of the first inning, the pitch up, ball three. Full count to Troy Tuttle and Skeeter Ellison chomping at the bit, ready to go to feed at home plate. Hanneman to the plate. 32 pitch hit off the fist towards the third baseman. Lefebvre up and throws wide to first base and gets him. The first baseman. Sissel making a great tag as Tuttle tried to slide under it wide, but Sissel came down with a tag. And so a great play by Sissel. And out five to three. Dixie almost with another baserunner. So in that inning, three runs on a total of two booming base hits, no errors and nobody left on base. Stavasinski turned his shoulder just a little bit and that fastball just caught that inside corner. Stahlisinski. Oh two. Part of the key might be Dixie's defense. Pitch called strike three. Hits that outside corner with a fastball and Stahlisinski goes meekly back to the bench. So the 62 freshman starting off well, Mark Pierre, who hit a home run yesterday for St. Louis Merrimack, the only home run of the tournament, the 8th of the year. The pitch hit in the air and fairly deep to left field, right down that line. And that's going to go out. It's going to be home run number two for Pierre. And it's a three to two ballgame. He pulled it high and just over that 302 side. The Fox gives up the two run home run and it's a three to two ball game. Mark Pier jumped on the left hander right off the bat as Fox hung one. He's been known to do that. And those are the first earned runs that Mason Fox has given up in postseason. Matt Schufa coming to the plate. So one man out and two runs are in. Not really a whole bunch of fans for St. Louis Merrimack. I heard a few applauding over there, but it doesn't seem like there's as big a crowd over there or as vocal as for Dixie Fox to the play. Pitch, call. Strike to Matt Schufa. Schufa the shortstop, good hitter, outstanding hitter, really has not come on track. But Pierre starting to a pitch. Up and away. Ball one one one count. One of the questions is going to be can Dixie keep the ball down in the strike zone that time Pierre just lofted it over the left field fence. Pitch swung on and missed. Strike two. So Fox comes back with a good fastball. One, two count to Matt Schufa. Spelled ciu F F A slow curveball, misses outside count, evens with two balls, two strikes. And for Fox, the answer was no. One man called out on strikes and three make first base. One of them hits the home run. Shepard, who had the only other extra base hit by St. Louis Merrimack against Dixie. And that was the double Sunday. In fact, the only extra base hit off of Jeff Garfield. Shepherd two for four, double three RBIs. Could be the go ahead runner. And there's still only one man out. Mason Fox, as the hitters look like you're going to be king today. Pitch fouled off over our head. Strike one. So Fox trying to keep ahead of the batters, Jason Shepherd. Open stance, right handed to first pitch by Fox. Fisted down that right field line. It may drift foul. Parker's trying to catch up with a dozen. And it is a foul ball. Strike one. Strike one count to Darren Sissel. Sissel comes in as one of the fastest ballplayers for St. Louis. Merrimack hitting 167 in the series on the year. Cecil among the leading hitters at 331. Has enough power to have a couple of home runs. But not considered one of the real power hitters. One of the top stolen bases. In fact, the leader in stolen bases with 22. The pitch. But one swing at the bat by Mark Pier and that made it three to two instead of a three nothing lead. Skeeter Ellison, Brad Thorne, Justin Garrett do up four. Dixie bottom third of the order. They were not particularly productive early yesterday, but by the time it was all over, Brad Thorne had two base hits. Skeeter Ellison had the the RBI double and Justin Garrett had added a double. Made it a potential to score, but he Never did score. First pitch to Skeeter Ellison way outside ball one. Ellison who went wild against St. Louis Merrimack, tripled in one run and doubled against St. Louis. Pitch hit hard and deep to right field. Back goes the outfielder and Ellison has a home run. Skeeter Ellison just levels that one out to center to right field. Ellison makes it a 42 lead and Skeeter Ellison the RBI that is his home run number four, four in postseason and seven on the year and Skeeter Ellison makes it a four to two ball game. Second pitch and it is gone. Brad Thorne who had a two run home run against the St. Louis Merrimack in that first game. The pitch called strike on that inside corner. But moving on to third is Garrett. So good piece of hitting by Peterson anyway. Looked almost like he fouled it at the plate, but it popped out, hit right in front of the plate and then lofted over the pitcher's head. Good play by the second baseman for St. Louis Merrimack. Steve Stalwasinski. Stahlzinski been a thorn in Dixie's side. Buggy Sudbury reached on a fielder's choice his first time. The pitch outside, ball one. Sudbury with a home run yesterday, a double and an RBI single. He just had a huge day yesterday. The pitch outside, ball two. 2o count buggy Sudbury. I did cheat him out of a home run, and he actually has six on the year. Trying to update my stats. Pitch up, ball three. He turned Sudbury loose. 3 0. He's hitting hot right now. And as one of the candidates for the big Stick award, Mark Pierce starting to creep back into there. Stavasinski is. Pitch inside and ball four. Sudbury on at first base. So men at the corners. And Sudbury has the stolen base. One strike on Brad Parker. First base is now open, so Parker, if he gets into the gap someplace, will score two. In fact, if he hits it hard, any place he could score two. The pitch misses. Ball one. One. One count KL Sheppard anxious to come up now, obviously from the way he swung the bat the first time. North to south it's east to west that he's a little bit bigger, 240 pounds as opposed to 180 pounds. Making his first appearance in this tournament and on the year for Go Forth, Go forth. Has a 3.21 earned run average, not bad 7 and 2 record and has started 12 games, completed 5. So he's normally a starter. Likely have would have been the starter if they had not gone with Hanneman KL Sheppard, left handed hitter against the left handed pitcher. And Shepard is hit. Left handers fairly well this year. Comes up with the bases loaded and two men out. Maybe a key time for Dixie. If St. Louis Merrimack can escape now, he might have a little momentum. If Gale Shepard gets at least a couple of runs home and Dixie may be off to the races. Shepard, an RBI double his first time up. First pitch by Go Forth. It is a call. Strike. So Shepard now has seen Go forth Cale Shepard. I noticed this morning that he shaved off the goatee. And I said what happened? And he said, well, one for six and you have to do something to change the pitch. Called strike two. Shepherd yesterday, his one was a big one. It was a single to lead off the 10th inning. And he eventually came around to score the tying run on Skeeter Ellison's double. So no. 2 pitch to Shepherd. Here comes Go forth. And he misses outside. Go forth. Big, big wind up. He starts and it takes a lot to uncurl by the time he's through. 6ft 6, 240 pounds. Southpaw against Cale Shepard. Shepard, if he goes the other way, may have a little place to run. Pitch hit foul towards third base. So he was not thinking pulling all the time. If he gets the pitch inside shepherd, these fences well within reach. It's 400 to dead center and yes, there is a green screen out there, but it's beyond the center field fence. You can hit that batter's backdrop screen over the center field fence and have a home run. And over at first base is Brad Parker. Parker, number two in being hit by a pitch after the regular season as he's been dinged three times. Now the pitch to shepherd in the dirt. Gets away from the catcher, but he keeps it in front of him. Good play by Jason Sheppard. So now it's a 3, 2 pitch. Cale shepherd after being down oh and 2, has worked this to a 32 pitch with two men out. Top of the second and you start the merry go round. Everybody runs. Brad Parker getting the walking lead. Everybody taking off. The pitch to shepherd. Hit hard and foul deep, but foul going the other way. So Shepard not really getting around on Go forth. Either that or everything's outside and he's going with it. And it doesn't look like he's really getting around that much on Go forth. The pitch to shepherd hit in the air. Foul. Fouled again. That is six foul balls since Shepard had two strikes. Gordon Jolly hollering at him. Hit it that way, hit it that way. Shortstop's going to have to make the play to first. And does. And so they get the out. Dixie strands three runners and that is not what they wanted to do. And KL Sheppard battled and battled and battled and then got the ground ball to Shufa. Shufa wanted to make the shovel tossed to the second baseman, but the runner was already there in that inning. One run on two base hits, no errors and three big ones left. And at the end of three and a two and a or an inning and a half, I should say we go to the bottom of the second Dixie with a 42 lead. Merrimack did not make the the usual plays. And that was part of the reason why Dixie lost Sunday. Talking with a lot of the kids, they wanted another shot at St. Louis Merrimack. They felt like it was a good team. There's no such thing as a bad team in this tournament. But they felt like they could play better. Pitch to Mike LeFevre. Ball 110 count to Mike LeFevre, the third baseman, right handed hitter. LeFaver making his first appearance, I believe in this tournament. It is first time at bat. Pitch called strike. So Lefevre takes a ball, takes a strike. First time against Dixie also. Obviously one one pitch to the third baseman, hit hard and deep to left field. And that one's going to be out that short porch and those short fly balls. And there's another. So Lefebvre hits a home run over the left field fence. And it's a four to three ball game. Almost the same spot that Mark Pierre hit his home run. And Suddenly there are three home runs by St. Louis Merrimack. And it's a four three ball game. And Brad Thorne goes out to Mason Fox. Something about don't hang the curveball. Come in with a big. That comes in with a big sign that says hit me. And Fox has given up three runs, four to three, ball game. Two home runs by shepherd by St. Louis Merrimack. Dixie is yet to hit. One out. Well, I shouldn't say that did. He did have the home run by Skeeter Ellison. That's three home runs in this game. Pitch swung on and missed by Chad Thorpe. Thorpe had two hits in four times up against Jeff Garf Sunday. Number nine hitter in the order. One man out, a run in and it's a four three ball game. Difference is Ellison's home run. Slow curveball, misses inside. Ball one, Mason Fox, the freshman Dixie needs to get as Many innings as they can out of Fox. The pitch hit on the ground towards the second baseman. Justin Garrett gobbles it up and throws him out. So Dixie fans below us in favor of that. All in favor say aye or a flawed. And they did. Two men out and Mike Brown coming to the plate. Brown the only base on balls on. Correction the second first of two base on balls that Fox has given up. Walk two, struck out one. Brown came around on Mark Pierce home run pitch outside. Ball one. When you get to this level, you just can't throw the ball in the strike zone. You have to have something on it. You have to have a wiggle, you have to have a break. You have to have a fastball that moves. Big hop to Scott Sudbury. Sudbury across the back has it out five to three. The routine play made. There have been now 43 home runs in this tournament. I think the record is 59. We still have a few days to go. There's still a possibility. Dixie with a 4 to 3 lead. The difference is Skeeter Ellison. Solo home run in the second inning. And it becomes very painful now that Dixie stranded three ballplayers on base. Stranded the bases loaded.
